I'm going to one of my first BE 2DE's in March and I have no eventer friends. Could someone help me in by answering these.
What should I bring?
Where do I stay?
Where would my horse be stabled? (I really am a complete novice sorry 😅)
What would I do for most of the day?

I didn't think BE did 2DE?!

They don't as far as I know, for the OP if you have never even done a ODE unaff then I think that would be the best place to learn the ropes, BE is expensive and with the best will in the world it is not something you can pick up every detail on a forum, fine to ask for a few tips, training pointers or a bit of info on the actual event but from your OP it sounds as if you really have no idea, have not read any of the info available on the BE website and would benefit from the support of a decent trainer who will help you in all aspects of preparation for you and the horse.

A list of what you need is on the BE site if you search.
Stabling may not be required for a one day.

In answer to your final question, you will be busy, getting ready for the dressage, after you have collected your numbers, got your hat tagged, found where everything is, then walking the course if you are lucky you will have time after dr otherwise it will be done before meaning arriving 1 hour earlier, then getting ready to SJ warming up, jumping, then preparing for XC, riding that, sorting out your horse afterwards, walking it round to cool off, then getting everything packed away etc etc. if you are able you may fit in time to eat and drink, check scores, collect dr sheets, possibly prize giving then driving home, most days are extremely long even when the times are close together it can easily be a 12 hour day.

I strongly suggest you spectate at an event before competing at one. That will answer some of your more basic questions. Which event are you thinking of entering and at what level?

Possibly means she's doing 2 events ??

In my experience, you spend 24hrs getting a grey spotless. Get up at 3 am and drive to a field in the middle of nowhere. Do a test that you're not happy with, do a sj round that you're not happy with then fall off xc....

You forgot Phase 1 - remortgage in order to afford the entry fees and registration costs!

Brilliant - my version is, Started, farted, slipped up and fell.

Love C'girl and AA's posts, but let's get back to OP!

I think you need to let us know what you've done, where you're going and a bit more about you. I'm not aware of any BE 2DEs, so do you mean an ODE run over 2 days, perhaps? Are you a PC or RC member? Whereabouts are you?

There are lots of people here who can help - just give us the information. If you would prefer to message me, please do.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Usually for BE, the ODE will run over two days, but you will only compete on one of them. You will need to check the schedule to see which day your class is.
You will need to bring whatever tack you need for dressage, sj, and xc, and clothes for yourself (show/tweed jacket, beige joddies, body protector, tie, shirt, etc, xc colours (dont have to be fancy)). Then you might want a cooler rug or something for after xc. there are usually places you can buy food.
You get a time, and your dressage, sj, and xc times are usually fairly close together, so you will be busy in between, so it wont be hard to occupy yourself. As other posters have said, there are plenty of unaffiliated ODE's that might be a better starting place, because they are cheaper, smaller, and friendlier. A lot of them are run over BE courses, too. If you give us an idea of where you are we could help you find some unaffiliated ones?
