That I cant go and view a horse I was meant to see 2 weeks ago. Its annoying but its worse when you have to go and do your horses in this. I remember having no running water last winter and having to bring 2 containers from home.
Take today alone, how many threads have that word in the title?
I haven't bothered to count because I am not reading them anymore for fear that if I respond I come across as unsympathetic. (I am as it happens, it isn't the end of the world, it is like childbirth, there is nothing you can do to stop it happening so just grit your teeth and get on with it)
I can just about cope with the cold but it's been 2 weeks now since I've ridden! Luckily our turn out is ok so she's out all day with ad lib hay, and seems happy enough!
a steep lane out of the village which I have to travel up to get to my yard and paddocks. Several houses on there as well, council gritted it well as well as us householders using the salt in the bins to keep it clear. Great you might think, oh no! idiot farmers lad decided, yesterday at -7 and snowing to hedge brush the hedge and mow the grass verge whilst hes about it,all when people are trying to drive without slipping on the newly fallen snow. Now we all think they think they own the road (wont back up into any layby to let folk past, rce up and down th lne like its their own privte racetrack) but that was just bloodyminded.
In Canadian terms this is`nt even a proper snow dump. How is it that that Canadian trains still run ok,inc. the Winnipeg to Churchill one we took, run to time..and ours` come to a complete standstill over a dusting? Are the Canadian ones elecric or steam powered? And how come the schools stay open, the good old school buses operate ..all in REAL deep snow??
OK ,the only concession I saw was manual point changing on the line ,to pick up the Churchill spur, but it puzzles me!
The nation complaining about snow, while I have none! All we have in South Wales is ice everywhere so I can't ride at all but I don't get the nice scenery to go with it. The school's frozen solid, we're at the top of a hill and the lane up/down is a sheet of ice. It's raining at the moment which could be a good thing as it means it's milder but if the temperature drops again (it's +3 at the moment) that's more water everywhere to freeze.
A woman who decided to wash her horses legs in -3 conditions right outside my stable, despite everyone telling her not to. I can't think of anything more selfish - there's now a huge ice rink of 2 inch deep ice right outside. I even caught her trying to soak her haynets in the same place, despite the efforts I'd gone to to put straw outside in an attempt to thaw the ice. Thankfully the tap was frozen, but what an absolute idiot.
