LOL Yeah I understand the horse won't know what he's being called but if ever I hired someone and they referred to my horses as ' it' they wouldn't get my business. I'd be offended and would think they don't give a xxxx for my horse so i'll take my business elsewhere.

The other bit re antagonism is I have a pet hate when newbies come on and kick off with sarky comments straight away, its almost like they haven't earnt the right yet and sets the tone of what they'll be like in the future. I'm old fashioned I think its nicer if people get to know someone a bit before they kick off. if you met someone for the first time in RL the chances are you'd be polite and then as you got to know each other you'd loosen up a bit.

Yes if I remember the original question before the big debate, I was at the Europeans and he did give the two corners a good bash so it wasn't a suprise when he didn't trot up sound. On the Sunday trot up he was absolutely full of it and only slightly unsound so I don't think he's buggered.

He seems to have always been a horse that Oli has to worked hard at keeping fit and he has to carefully plan his campaigns and I'm sure we'll see him up and winning again soon !

My work means that I come into contact with both professional and leisure riders all the time, the professionals in the majority will refer to their horses as 'it' and the leisure riders use 'he/she', I personally don't think any disrespect is intended.

I, being a keen amateur, refer to my horses as she (they are all mares).

If you really do work for a 4* event team then you wouldn't have time to come on here and you would know all that's going on anyway, they all do, you would be far too busy, they don't get time to turn round. You also wouldn't be bothered what anyone else thought about the term 'IT'

Have to disagree, I know more now and find out more than I did when i was working on a big yard! Also this time of year is quieter for event grooms, and shock horror some grroms do have internet

Back to topic, oli was interviewed somewhere about flint and he said that he reaconed that the badmington run had taken a lot out of him, which as he had done so well at badmington was fine by him, however he had not been on form since. He did not seem undualy worried by the fact flint had not made the trot up.

So I deduced from that he thought flint needed a much deserved break abnd had peaked at badmington . And the reasons that he failed the trot up were minor and not a career ending worry in any way.

And lets face it If it had been a serious injury then chances are they would have noticed well before trot up and not presented .

I have been away all weekend grooming so have had a lot to catch up on on my two posts, which I am delighted at the success of. I don't understand why some people are finding it so unbelievable that I'm a groom .... it's not exactly the best nor most highly paid job in the world, in fact I get barely a pittance because I keep one of my horses on the yard, which takes up most of my wages, but I do it for the love of it. I don't need to justify my job to anyone, but I work bloody hard and my horses are always well turned-out and look and perform fantastically!!!!
And another thing ... I don't know what some people who aren't eventers think, but Oliver Townend is about as likely to reveal information in his horses to his competitors as hell is freezing over. You pick up bits and pieces and there's lots of gossip but you never really know anything about any yard other than the one you work on. My posts have been more about inspiring conversation and seeing peoples opinions rather than actually gaining information.

Think it was on the bbc european highlights but I am blonde so not sure!

Fwiw I used to be a groom many years ago ( with polo ponies ) and you are totally right you do work hard for a pittance, you have to love it you have to take pride in what you do as the reward is job satisfaction knowing your horses are cared the best, look the best and hopefully perform the best because the reward certainly is not money!

As I said before tt welcome to the forum
