what has happened to the saddle market?!

Im seriously struggling to find a saddle fitter selling second hand saddles in my budget (£500 ish) but wouldnt buy one second hand myself as I wouldnt trust my own opinion on the fit.

Unfortunately, due to the current financial situation, many people expect to get something for nothing & offer stupid prices for almost everything. They actually expect you to be pleased with the ridiculous offer they've made & also expect you to accept it. They even get quite aggressive when you tell them no.

Exactly!
I've been turning out old (new) stock on ebay to help clear my shelves, I had various items up WELL below their trade prices like long riding boots, rugs, whips, jods etc but people were making me offers of half the prices I was asking.
They weren't offers, they were insults.

Im the opposite!
I sold mine stupidly easily (I think my asking price may have been out but that's my own fault I guess) In fact advertised it on Facebook and Preloved and could have sold it 5/6 times in the first day....annoying!
The saddle I want- A Thorowgood Cob 17" Black I cant find for love nor money- at an affordable price anyway!

I have one that im trying to sell it is 4 1/2 years old though :) where in the country are you?

Ive got an ideal gp on ebay with only 4 watchers, I only want £80 for it too! Incidentally I've got a pony pad on ebay as well and that is doing a lot better than I expected. Pony pads are the way forward!

I need a narrow, (17.5in, GP) saddle suitable for a high withered horse, she's a very odd shape and still growing. I have an adjustable, nearly new K&M VSD , but its not adjustable enough. The narrowest gullet is too wide so use a riser pad as advised by the saddler.
I look at the ones on ebay but don't have the time/money to buy and try them all. I'd be happy to pay a decent amount if I could try it first.

IT SOLD!!!

and it only went for a teeny-tiny bit under the asking price!!

Now all I have to do is sell my old engagement ring and I can afford to pick up the shiney new saddle next weekend!! Ahahahahahaha!!!

Where did it sell out of interest?

Since I last posted on here I've had the saddler out to restuff mine, and although my saddles are fine, I much prefer my mare's Jerffries to the gelding's GFS, and the saddler has a Jeffries that may fit the gelding which she is bringing back next week, so will have to sell his GFS. I bought it second hand last year, although it had only been used a couple of times, for £350 and the saddler says she will give me £275 part ex, although she thinks I could get £375 if I sold it privately. Going off this thread I may just part ex and be done with it!
