While I was riding my very bouncy cob in the school at dusk today the sky looked beautiful - sunset was making lovely red clouds against the blue sky and then the barn owl flew past - close and low.

It was was one those moments that make you smile. How lucky am I to have a horse and being riding in a beautiful part of the country and seeing things up close like the barn owl. Was such a feel good/glad to be alive moment after weeks of snow.

What a lovely topic

I let my boy have a run around in the school today and he showed off some very impressive bunny hops and bucks! It was nice to see him enjoying himself!
My sick mare had a new vet out late last night which suggested we might be able to cure her, so that really made me smile.

My 4yo girly deciding to be a dressage diva. We had our first lesson this year, or should I say decade due to snow ice etc and she was an angel, she's really coming together and she's starting to use herself as she should!

Going for a good gallop tomorrow

Going to the joint meet this morning (on my feet as was moving the lorry) and seeing the new Whip for the other hunt, he was rather yummy!

Feeding the girls this morning Katie looked so pleased to see me and gave me a nuzzle and Kelly looked like she wanted to rip my head off!! Chalk and cheese my pair! It did make me smile as the look of outrage on her face when i kissed her was classic Kelly!! Grumpy old grotbags at 30 is growing old disgracefully!!

Mine is something simple but made me smile.

I have had my horse 2 years and he has brought back my confidence

which i lost with my previous horse.

I was out hacking and I was happy to be riding such a safe horse who looks after me! Its made me smile and brought back the pleasure of riding!!

Actually reading your post has made me smile

. How lovley to see a barn owl up close like that! It is such a beautiful feeling isn't it when we are at one with nature. Sounds hippyish but i love it.

i went to poo pick the fields and my boy followed me around the field and then started playing and bucking and jumping about he then pickd up a tree branch that we had cut down and had it in his mouth whilst legging it around the field! weird horse but it made me laugh so much

Aw lovely to read everyone's replies... Orkan made me smile as I was trying to multi-task by carrying hay and leading him to the field. His giraffe impression trying to steal the hay kept making me laugh.

Well my horse is lame atm so that deff didnt make me smile

! Then even worse the one i have been riding recently managed to pull a shoe!! But a girl i know from uni and we used to be on the same yard turned up at my yard and was looking for space, she should be moving beginning of april

Chilling in the field with my horse after riding. She had a great roll and then came back over to me for a face rub.

mine is, after walking up and down the field for 20 mins to go get horsey in for farrier, he was at furthest away point in field. got to top of hill where he was and got cramp in my leg so i jumped on horsey, who took me to field gate which we opened and closed with no problems, something we have not attemped before! we hacked up the track to the stables and i got off in the school, he has not been ridden for months and the night before took off when the yard owner tried to bring him in so for that and so many other things, i love my horse and he makes me grin from ear to ear and i dont care who knows it

Mine was taking Candyman to the beach for the first time today. He was a bit google eyed at the sea as the tide was quite a way in but he was really good and only had one shooting forwards spook because of a dog behind us.It was also quite miserable weather so the fact we managed to go on the beach and that he behaved so reasonably definitely made me smile.

My horse made me smile today, actually she cracks me up! She has to be one of the most unintelligent horses ever and should have been born blonde, not ginger!

Today whilst riding across the moors she snatched at some reeds to eat, missed and almost fell over her own feet!

It doesn't really occur to her to go round obstacles unless I steer her round, I am sure she would just walk in a dead straight line if left to her own devices - that is except if I am walking from A to C in a dressage test - then we waver about all of the place

Nice thread

and the OP's made me smile too!

Rode 3yo ponio who was good as gold on the busy moor (lots of excited dogs) and the narrow lanes with buses, cars, mountain bikes etc. Came back smiley as he was a little star.

Now have wine, chinese and Love Actually; still smiling

the thought that i am taking my boys to try them in a new lorry (to see if the biggest one fits!!) so this time tomorrow i may have new lorry

Riding my friends Section D for her today as she is preggers, the mare has had a few months off work and we expected her to be a bit tricky as she can be sharp, but she was good as gold and gave me a lovely ride, which pleased me and really pleased my friend!

i smiled today getting back from a ride on Millie.

she was an absolute cow yesterday and a 20 minute hack took over an hour- today she was a total gem and didn't put a foot wrong.

we hacked all over the farm on a long rein, saw lots of squirrels, a few herons and it was lovely and peaceful.

Seeing my husband do a perfect rising trot, he is a novice, and I am nervous!.Then the youngster trotted in hand perfectly, and didnt dump me...this time.

2 things made me smile (well laugh actually) today...

Firstly I was lungeing my boy when thundering hooves indicated the arrival of the horses in the field next to lunge pen - the 4 of them stood in a line along the fence watching very intently with pricked ears and earnest expressions for the whole time we were lungeing.

The second thing (after I'd finished lungeing) the YO was topping up the haylage and Taffy was practically falling over his door, drooling and nickering at the YO (he has hay) - I told him not to be a pig and it wasn't for him and she said she normally gives him a handful as he's so cheeky and chatty!!
This is fine by me and I was quite impressed that he's already conning 'sweets' as we've only been there a week!!

I work at a yard and have never really felt accepted.
However today I got to ride one of the hunters, he is around 17.3hh but so chunky extra large boots don't fit him! He used to be a dressage horse, then police horse, now hunter.

I rode him beautifully (never ridden a horse that big before). He remembered all his dressage stuff for me! made me smile as now I feel accepted at work and am being treated a bit nicer

Been there for nearly 2 years so about time too!
