My understanding is that Hi Fi Lite (aka chopped up front door mats) can be used as a complete hay replacer if necessary, ie a big trug tub of it instead of hay if your ned can't eat hay for whatever reason.
In terms of calories, hay usually has between 7 and 10 MJDE/kg, whilst HiFi Lite has 8 MJDE/kg. The earlier the hay is cut, the higher the calorie content is likely to be - the type of grasses in the hay would also affect the calorie level. In terms of sugar content, the average level in hay is 10.5% whilst HiFi Lite is 4% sugar.

Thanks all, I was just asking because at the moment Badger the Fjord just has a bit of Hi-Fi lite to have his vits in once a day, but no other hard feed (its nice to give him something when the other have something). And was just purely wondering if he got more calories from that then hay, really no other reason.
