What has your instructor helped you achieve?

Was thinking today how much faster I improve with one, especially with jumping as I tend to be less of a wuss if someone else is putting the jumps up for me!

So any 'proud' posts of what they've helped with?:D

Everything really. My feet stay firmly on the ground but since I started with a new instructor last year I have not looked back. My confidence has soared, my horse is forward, round soft, willing and we are even starting to crack a really good canter in the same vein. If it was not for her we would still be pootling around the school at half pace trying desperately to enthuse some impulsion into our work. She has recently moved away so now I travel to her once a fortnight, and hour there and back but definitely worth it.

My instructor has helped me achieve everything, she took me from a novice rider , put me on all sorts of horses at her yard when I worked for her briefly, all the while teaching em how to appreciate their individualities, she has loaned me her ex-eventer for nigh on 2 years and taught me to ride on him and taught me to independently school him and brought me to the point I feel confident taking on a youngster which is what I am shopping for.

I owe her everything (her and her husband who has taught me ground work skills too). :D:o

My instructor developed my seat (with the help of her mechanical horse and schoolmasters) and now I can be a rider and not just a passenger. She helps give me direction with any horse I'm riding so I don't just float round aimlessly. She also helped me to understand how the imperceptible aids I give are far more effective when correctly applied than moving my hands here or my legs there.

She also inadvertently helped me to realise that I'm now a pleasure rider and I really don't want to ride in all weathers - it's just not worth it and I'm better off on the sofa ;)

Confidence to jump higher and better! I don't jump a lot, but when I do, she really helps me.
She also helped me get on a difficult horse and ride it through my fears, and his. This ended up with me falling head over heals in love with the horse :) So I've only got her to thank, I didn't want to ride Ned, but she needed a rider and I fit the bill! So glad I did :)

I don't have one ATM :( but my old one was supoib!

She turned me and my horse into a team, rather than just A horse and A rider. I miss her :(

She took me on as a complete beginner (age 53) ten months ago. She has made my dream of being able to ride with confidence a reality. I have a long way to go yet but she has given me a very solid foundation too build on.

Our YO is my instructor, I have known her since I was a kid, however over the last 2 years since getting my mare, she has really helped me believe and given me the confidence to improve my dressage and more importantly to help me and Chloe become a partnership.

My instructor has enlightened me that leg on does not equal use my heels. I can now control speed and direction using my seat and upper thigh and my horse is going softer and more forward than before. I feel a much better rider for it.

Where to start?! She has converted me from a slightly dangerous speed demon, jumping obcessed rider to a dressage convert! She has fixed so much about my position (I have one leg longer than the other which causes me to be majorly wonky!)

My instructor has helped me lots too. It's lovely reading the positives on this thread.

Mine helped me find my latest horse and has given me the confidence to take on something younger and what I perceived to be 'better' than I deserved!

Ive only had two lessons with my new instructor since moving counties thus yards and friends - she has in those two lessons returned me and my horse to full confidence and stopped me thinking id made the hugest mistake ever ie moving - my horse had a complete personality transplant following the move and me being without my usual support network - well disaster was just around the corner!

She has taken us completely in hand and sorted us out and as a result i am happier and my horse is calmer and happier too - he had turned into the devil incarnate :D

He helped me learn to ride, enjoy & do well competing with my last tricky, spooky mare & when she retired has helped me with endless patience & support with the new young one, she was completely green with no flatwork at all & had never jumped a course of fences. 2 years & lots of effort later now has gorgeous flatwork & jumping DC BN, to me the absolute best achievement ever. I text him to tell him had come 2nd in BN, he was at a big show jumping in the 1.40 GP, still took the time to text back with a well done, priceless...
