What hat do you SJ in at BE events

After the post about GPA's not being allowed!!

What do you showjump in?

I have a skull cap that is quite new and I really like for XC but I SJ in my GPA.

Was thinking of maybe a copy - The Champion Ventair??

Or maybe just getting a Champion Ventair skull cap and using is for XC and SJ.

What do you think?
 
I have been thinking of purchasing a sjing hat, like the champion as I really cannot justify paying £200 for the likes of a GPA.
I do have a Charles Owen Sjing hat which i used to wear but feel more comfortable i my Venture Skull cap for this phase now. Have a J3 for xc but I hate how i look in it

Well, Pippa wears her jockey skull for everything from what i've seen....including BSJA

Come to think of it you can spot most of the eventers in our area at BSJA shows...as they nearly all wear jockey skulls with silks

BSJA I SJ in a Charles Owen SJ 2000 but for eventing as I never have enough time I Sj in my Ventair skull. I bought the Charles Owen mainly for RC as not allowed to do dressage in a beagler.
 
Well I have just been looking at the Champion ventair skull caps - ones with the silver stripe that ollie townend wears and I really like them - so thinking of getting that and using that for SJing and XC.

What colour silk though??!!

I wear a blue GPA but obvioulsy have black boots on and black tack, black gloves for Sjing so I spose black would look better!!

Oh and one more question - I spose as my GPA I have at the moment is tagged I can still use that BE SJing??? I did all of last year

As far is i understand it, the Ventair Skull and the Ventair SJ'ing hat are basically the same thing....just the SJ'ing hat has a 'permanent' cover with soft'ish peak built in

I think a Champion ventair it is with the silver stripe! Very nice!!

Will order one tonight so will have it for my next event!!

The skull has the typical rough textured outer to help the silk stay on and no peak.

The other has the suede finish complete with peak but yes essentially they are the same product. I am lazy and cannot be bothered to change silks between disciplines at events!

thats so true!!! Have found myself going to places like Royal leisure / duckhurst etc and looking at the different competitors thinking "eventer, tweed jacket"....."that ones a pure sj due to the half sheepskin and velvet numnah!!"

Yellow tags always give it away

I normally show jump in my skull cap. I am plaaning on getting a ventair, santa was supposed to bring me one but there arn't any shops around me that sell them.
 
I have a blue JTE hat for show jumping, i wear it BSJA and for SJ phase eventing and it is tagged yellow sticker, so i def stick out as an eventer with my tweed jacket at BSJA comps - which i quite like esp when i beat all the 'professionals' hehehe

i have junior champion skull (cheaper) which i use for xc, the tag is almost falling off so may see if i can get it re done this year.... i use this for everyday riding too... may even buy a new one for comps as you know how attractive they get from sweaty heads!!!!
 
Use my Jockey skull for both SJ and XC, am thinking of possibly getting a ventair skull at some stage as my Champion hat at the mo is soooo comfy, but rather grim now as is everyday hat too...... have got a GPA but tbh it wouldnt pass a safety check as I have fallen on my head on it!!

I have SJ'd in my skull cap or GPA - GPA is tagged so not sure if they can say its no longer ok or not....
 
I SJ BSJA and will event in my Gatehouse HS1, it's silver and I look like a twonk but I know if I land on my head I've got a higher than average chance of being ok! I do wear a standard velvet hat for dressage though.
