15hh cob x arab (5yo when bought.. now rising 8)

That top one by the OP reminds me of my mare's half brother, Splash...

My mare was £500, including all her rugs, bridle, bits, martingale, reins, and grooming kit!

My new girl was exactly £1000, and Seren was £650, in fact most of our past horses were under £1k and we bred a few.
I am reluctant to pay more than that really as we have had some crackers at £1k and below.

3 horses and pics only as I would be here all day otherwise

Seren was the best pony ever, rip my beautiful girly, £650 from auction as a backed 2yr old, traditonal mare

Mollie was a sweetheart and was £900 from auction as a backed 4year old, cob x dales

And Nell seems sweet too, a cheeky minx but sweet, £1000 from a local farrier, unbacked rising 3yr old traditional coblet

Millie was £400

Jem was £100

IMAG0190.jpg

So a total of £500. Not bad considering Millie competed at 1* level, and Jem went to Badminton Grassroots Championships last spring. This season Millie will be having her second foal, and Jem will hopefully be going BE Novice.

Penpontbren Superted - 25p!

HPIM0498-2.jpg

He was 16 when I got him and was my horse of a lifetime, still miss him everyday.

Just Marcus - £1000

Openingmeet2011014.jpg

I bought him last year as a 19 year old. He's amazing, won loads showing, is a tank XC and thoroughly enjoyed his first time hunting at the opening meet. He'd been just about 'retired' for 4 years previously and, judging by Ebay prices, if I sold the just gear that came with him I'd get about 2.5 grand!

(as I'm 'middle aged', obviously the ponies I had as a youngster were under £1000!)

My first pony Sam was £450 and by the time he semi retired he was a JA jumping pony.

My first pony mum got for £300 as a green 4 yr old, 2nd pony £200 as a 2 yr old, current ponies I have 2 that were freebies and my rising 3 yr old was £750 at weaning

I don't have any photos but I bought a 15hh connie for £750 with tack and a wardrobe. He was said to be dangerous, unrideable and "needing a bullet" - I bought him unseen :D purely because he was a nice colour and I didn't think he could be that bad!

Well it turned out he was for a bit - he was terrified. He'd very obviously been beaten and was just scared and was a complete hat rack. The second he learned to start trusting me he started to gain weight (he now spends the summer 24/7 in a grazing muzzle :o )

2 months after I bought him I got on him - he was on his toes but I could *tell* he was pretty nice. Schooling took some work but when he started jumping 1m30 tracks with me the money people offered me for him was  Sometimes I wish I had taken it and I probably should have done but I couldn't do it to him. He was a complex little character but totally ACE.

Bought mine for 1000 exactly. He was probibally worth 1p when we bought him he was that mad and dangerous, he probibally is still priceless to others but worth his weight in gold to me and never leaving us.

I bought a ID/Shire X TB for £850 as a yearling, he was massive and ended up at 17.1hh he was a bit of a handful and very strong but fantastic to ride and could jump anything. We were doing BN and Discovery when he was 4 and Newcomers as a 5 yr old. I hunted him too and did a bit of eventing. Really he was far too big for me so I sold him to a MFH and he was a hunting superstar for a few years jumping in the Marlborough Cup Hunt relay teams for the SU hunt. He was sold for £30,000 to the states eventually!

I bought a section A yearling from the sales for £30, he turned out to be a fantastic childs pony.

Then there is lovely Axel a warmblood x arab yearling that I bought for £950 he is also grown into a lovely horse and was doing medium level dressage up until 2010 when I had to put him out on loan, he was a schoolmaster and confidence giver to a really nervous lady who gained loads of confidence from him. He is now on loan with view to buy to a lovely girl who is planning to showjump him.

There have been a few others, but I don't think I've ever paid more than £1000 for any of my horses and they have all turned out brilliantly :)

Ned's owner got him for £600, I think. Personally, I don't think he was worth that when she got him. He was skin and bones, ugly (so they say! I think he's gorgeous!), with a scabby back that was seeping pus. I'm glad she did get him though, he makes me so happy :D

Also, he had a horribly swollen nose, which has now almost completely gone!

she was in PX for another horse who was worth much much less, but I only paid £900 to make her mine, therefore she technically counts lol

Mine cost a total of £650 for all 3.. Angel was £450 with rugs and Lucky and Roxy were both £100 each... all worth every penny...

My first ODE round a 2'6 course on Cheeky. My confidence was so low, but he was a superstar and carried me round for an amazing double clear and we came 2nd.
(scanned in, but taken by a parent and framed so no reporting please!)

RC dressage areas- we got rosettes, even though he was a confirmed dressage hater :D

Free :) Worth his weight in gold many many times over though.

I have bought all mine for under £1000 but all 3 bar one is either an idiot or useless but love them all the same lol.

This is Connie my most recent buy for £350 shes a rodeo horse with issues which will potentially cost me alot to get fixed or reschooled as after throwing me off badly into the fence i dont fancy hitting the fence again other than that shes extremely sweet.

Dreamer a new forest pony we never got along and did'nt grow big enough either had the biggest personality ever. She was £375 my biggest regret as i only bought her out of pitty the same as Connie.

And Royal the best pony anyone could of wished for we payed £500 for him as a 20yo i think he was a livery debt and gave me 10 happy years of owning him.
