...to make you feel proud?

I took my new mare for our first ever hack with my neighbour on my pony. Idea was pony would lead the way but pony had other ideas and neighbour couldn't make her so my baby 4 yr old who hasn't been ridden since last winter and I have ridden a total of once since I got her 2 weeks ago led the way for the whole hack :D.

Had to dismount twice to open a gate and she was fine, she only had a little leap when some killer leaves scuttle towards us early on but was fine after that. Wasn't sure about going through water but once she'd tested it out by drinking it (:confused:) she went through fine. I was like this :D:cool:
 
How lovely - and it just goes to show how well your youngster was broken in the first instance - I hope that you continue to have good times, sure you will.
Am at a similar stage with my 5 year old - though, if I got off, certainly could not get on again, without the aid of a mounting block / or something that resembled same!

I did need to walk til I found a mounting block in the form of a slippy tree stump and I couldn't get her right close to it so there was a moment when I was (very gently) throwing a leg over I hoped she wasn't going to move or I'd have gone splat :o

She was professionally broken and I do think it shows, but she does have mouth issues to sort out. (I have had teeth sorted and new happy mouth seems to please her). She can be a bit of a brat to handle but has improved dramatically in just 2 weeks so I reckon she is going to be fab in the future :D

Anyone else had an exciting day?
 
How amazing! You must be very proud of pony :D um exciting? I managed to get out of bed at 8:15 and be at college at half past... that's my achievement of the day :cool:
 
Yeah well done :) She sounds great. I took my new whippy magic Kelly marks rope (i think the swear filter dislikes the real name!) on our hack tonight and Deano and I made it past the scary bolder without a fight for the first time. I love my new whippy rope and was also like this :D
 
I took my soon to be 5 year old daughter (5th Nov), for her second proper lead rein ride on her soon to be pony. Lovely little strawberry roan mare, Welsh x who's 12 years old and stands about 11hh. We pootled around the paddock and pony and child had a wonderful time and I am a very very proud mummy.

We'll be bringing her home in the next couple of weeks...and no, she's not a birthday present, just a coincidence in timing as we've been waiting for her for a few months.
 
Oops...so busy telling you about what made me proud that I forgot to say congratulations to you FfionWinnie and your youngster. Lets hope it's the first of many many happy days hacking for you both.
 
My children followed hounds for the first time today!

Our hunt organised a lead rein only meet at the kennels. Just a walk down a lane then across some fields where they all had to dismount and say hello to the hounds. Then a ride back to the kennels for squash and cakes. I only have one small pony and two children, so my daughter (just seven and small for her age) had to go on my boy who was very good but recieved a few comments about his size!

They loved it and as it was such a success, the hunt are planning another tiny tots meet for the Christmas hols.

Sounds fab and I'd like to try it on lead rein meet too!;)
 
i took my 5 year old out to dressage, first time out in the trailer, and gis first time out ever! he was brilliant apart from we had to hangabout so by the time we done the test he was fed up but still! wee star boy all things comsidered
