Today was a completely stressy day for me! As we were leaving the yard for a xc competition I realised I had left body protector at home. No problem, quick call to mum and she meets us as we drive through where I live and I now have my body protector. Then we get to the event, I get frankie ready and then get myself dressed and to my horror only pulled out one jodphur boot

! So a quick dash to the tack stand and £32.50 later I am the proud owner of a pair of jodphur boots I didn't need

! On the positive side he went clear and we got 6th! What have you forgotten and what did you have to do about it?

My daughter once forgot her saddle when we were going to a show. It was at home having been cleaned. We ended up driving the lorry and pony to our house to collect it.

I forgot my hat once & had to borrow one from a Pony Club mum... but it had a Donald Duck silk on it complete with eyes & beak, with a pompom on the top...and I had to jump like that all day...

I now have an sj hat & a dr hat & they live in their hat boxes on the lorry as having to jump like Donald Duck has made me paranoid about forgetting hats.

My last outing I forgot my boots! I was second to go in the dressage and had to swap it all around while Cs owner went back top her house to get them

i once forgot my jacket and borrowed one and wierdly the girl and i got exactly the same score! but that is not the only time i have forgotten my jacket..whoops

Always forget something, kids show jackets, sons girth last time out, can't get my head round the concept of taking passports, fortunatley never needed them.
The best was when my son who is now 5 was 12 days old, I took him and my two daughters then aged 7 and 12 to the local show, with their two ponies, they were doing 5 classes each, always at different ends of the ground and of course wanted me to watch them...........cue "forgetting" i had had baby (had spent the summer heavily pregnant doing the same thing at shows every other weekend!), and left baby happily asleep in the pram under a tree at one ring side while i trogged off to another. Luckily most people at the show knew us and child was reunited with me within a few minutes! One guilty mum!

i remember someone telling me a story about someone who forgot their horse

Made sure they had everything else, and drove away in an empty trailer

I have managed to forget my jacket 2 weeks running then my dressgae girth the next time out!! I was so unpopular as I sent Mum back for my jacket!
I do remeber somebody leaving the yard without the pony in the trailer before so I am not that bad.

My last boss (I was nannying at the time) was in such a hurry one morning dashed off the yard in the very big lorry got all the way to the show ground dropped the ramp to find that the grooms had not loaded the horses!! Oh boy did we all get a piece when she rushed home to pick the horses up. Time before she managed to drive off the yard with the ramp down! She was it was to be said very daft!

The last time I forgot something was at gatcombe this spring, i left my dressage girth at home! We were parked next to Kitty Boggis who kindly lent me one!
Over the years I've left numerous things at home;
body protector
bridle
boots
studs
numnah
number bib
etc, I do have a check list too, it has always worked out ok!! Scrounged off other people, i think mum bought another number bib tho!

Girth - two people lent me theirs for the two tests
Bridle - organiser lent me hers
Boots - found some at the back of the lorry

and this is just in the last year

my sis rememebred sh eforgot her show jacket whilst we still st the yard, so dad brought it up. we got all the way to the show before she realised she had no bit!!! dad stormed back home to get it, and luckliy she won both her classses!!!

i forgot to put trailer ramp up and drove 50 yards down the rd!!! its was raining badly and the vehicle couldnt get up the muddy hill so we unloaded and loaded ponies on the rd, the rain was so bad me and my friend put our ponies on and ran straight for the car, its was only when her dad asked what the noise was ans stopped to check and realised the problem!! luckely ponies were none the wiser and still always loaded and travelled fine!! now i always double check the whole trailer!!

Thanks, my non-horsey dad said "can't you just ride in your wellies?"

Brushing boots on a sponsored ride- i was paranoid the whole way round.
Forgot my girth once but that was just a normal ride, not competing.

Ahhh the great thing of hacking to shows, you can't forget anything too important

Last time I nearly forgot my stirrups. Fortunately, I was hacking there, and noticed their absence when it came to mounting!

I once lent my bit to a competitor after she forgot hers, I had just one both Prelims on my horse and she went on the win the other 2 classes on that day, so it was definately a lucky bit! Thought I might rent it out after that!!
