What have you found in a bale of hay?

Stones, dead rodents and a perfectly dessicated flat frog...
Apparently last year the farmer chopped a fox's back legs off (by accident, one of the lads came back for the gun to despatch it humanely)... haven't yet found the legs, hoping never to......

A whole pheasant which freaked me out and I screamed alot HAHA

Also found a huge metal rod like a crow bar

lots of other dead animals

we changed hay man HAHAH... and luckily I haven't found anything strange apart from the old dead mouse in it haha

xxxx

Someone found a dead deer in a bale of hay at my yard last year. It had been completely mangled and was towards the back of the bale so we had fed half of the hay to the horse before realising it was there. It smelt hideous!

From YOs fields we have found many things... bits of horse rugs/mobile phone (x2)/ fly masks/ the usual dead animals/electric fence battery. Pretty much anything anybody looses in the summer seems to turn up in our hay bales!

At my yard in the back field we dont use much at some point a fox jumped over the barb wire fench didnt make it and got stuck on its hind legs. Come the spring when checking the boundries we found dead fox face now eaten off, and still cant quite musker up enough courage to knock it down, so its still there. Although it looks more like a branch now thats been sun blenched.

sheep body parts. my horse refused to eat his hay one night-we were feeding a whole yard from a round bale. he got quite agitated, striking out at it and snorting alot-it wasnt until we got further through the bale that we started finding bits of dead sheep!

Yep, have had this too!! The dear ex and his hay. Think DEFRA would have had a field day if they saw it.

How the hell did that get there, surly the grass wasn't that long:eek::eek:

Smiffy, the yards kitten....a flattend dried out cardboard cut out of him ...very sad.

Plus various items of litter, birds and mice.

When I lived in Cyprus I worked as a groom at a military saddle club. I once found and overreach boot in a bale. Another time, I found a long strand of rusty barbed wire. Luckily it was me haying that morning, the young lad that worked with me, never ever shake out the hay, he would just throw a slice in the shelter!! He was told in no uncertain terms that he would shake hay out.
