What have you learnt today?

They say you learn something new everyday, so what have you learnt?

I had a jumping lesson this morning so I learnt alot in that

I also learnt how to fasten leg straps on a rug whilst jogging next to a trotting pony :p
 
I learnt my mare dancer never slows down even when tired :P but stretches down more when going slowly.
I also learnt that at our new house, Dancer goes bonkers when my youngster goes out of view :P
 
Not to give up too soon. Or be too disheartened!

3 monthes ago T was terrified of a pole, today he jumped a 3 foot course quite happily. Makes me wonder what the previous yard did to him!
 
I learnt that I can’t just go out for a short hack! I start with good intentions, but then I just keep going. I was only going around the small block as I have a dressage clinic tomorrow, but not only ended up going around the big block, I also went through the woods. So instead of 45 minutes I was out for well over 2 hours, he, he. :D
 
I learned that walking your horse to turnout then riding for too long when you've just had surgery on a broken toe means you spend the rest of the day with your foot up eating painkillers.

So today, I'm going to skip the turnout. :p
 
i learnt that i was stupid to sell me DR saddle last year. I have just brough another.. rode in it today - how the hell did i live without it?!
 
I learnt that I haven't lost the ability to ride bareback despite not having done it for over twenty years. Soooo pleased I put it on my facebook status - apparently non horsey folk have a different meaning for bareback riding!!
 
I learnt the right speed to go over the bumps in the field on the quad bike, towing four kids in the trailer behind - and they didn't fall out! lol
Also learnt, that in the process of quad biking the children, I realised that the dog was still running behind - now I have 1 very tired dog!
 
i had a lesson in total futility - shouting "dont roll - please dont roll" at a competition ready white horse as you turn it out in field - simply encourages the horse to roll - stand up - look at you & roll on the other side whilst managing to somehow twist flap on rug to ensure nice grass butt stains:rolleyes:
 
I learnt not to leave the lid off the olive spread when the foul halfbreed ethnic minority cat is about :)

I also learnt that my horse goes into a trance when you comb her forelock.
 
Never leave your lunch near a black lab!
i put my carrier bag outside my stable, went to put the kettle on, came back five minutes later to find said doggie scoffing my cheese roll!
 
I learnt to take it seriously when my mother-in-law looks ill-she is. Got back from the yard to find an ambulance parked in my spot and still waiting for the OH to ring for a lift back from the hospital. :(
