I'm laid up following ankle surgery on Monday, am getting very bored AND I haven't seen my horse for a week :eek::eek::eek:

So what has everyone been up to with their horses and ponies? :D:D

I was in a bit of a rush at the farm today but because they were out last night I didn't have any jobs to do and had just enough time to long rein my old mare down the drive and back (it's a super long drive, with hills and everything, so perfect for long reining :D). I'm so pleased with how she's doing and looking, fingers crossed I'll be able to ride her again tomorrow. I can't wait for tomorrow - I'm going to take the Welsh Cob for a gallop round the fields :D:D

B1 hung out in the field as it's her day off. B2 did half hour schooling as he worked so hard yesterday. L hung out and will just hang out again tomorrow as she's retired.

Going to be a while before I can ride my girl as she's in foal and getting fat. By the time I'm back on my feet she's only going to have a few weeks to go - I've timed it quite nicely I think :D
I think I'll get to go see her on Friday tho so am looking forward to seeing how much she's grown

The same thing they do everyday, Pinky... Try to take over the world

I swear my highlands are plotting against me

Hope your ankle heals well, sounds unpleasant!

Senior horse had a session with the physio - he's been trying to compete with the youngsters when galloping and bucking around the field, and she thinks he's 'sat down' anyway, very sore boy, and will have the rest of the week off. The rest of the gang, all 'teenage boys' are just being naughty, cheeky kids - four year old charmed the physio with his good looks though! ;-)

I just about managed to squeeze in a schooling session with my 6 yr old TB. He was brilliant and got the right canter lead first time which is something we have been working on for a few weeks. He also had a physio session this afternoon, which he loved and nearly fell asleep after his shoulders were released.

Escaping! P can flip over the gate catch so the gates are tied as well, but she managed to get the string untied too - protesting because I kept her in off the frosted grass!

D+ test on rather sharp horsey who's only been back in work for a week ;) But I still passed! Then a hack with the same this afternoon - lovely!

Hope your ankle isn't too sore!

Ice packed his knee as slightly swollen after he was injured by his friend. Gentle hack, swelling gone by end of this. Then turned him out for a few hours, think he has enjoyed rolling by the state of him, thank goodness for rugs!!

Mine has been giving her lovely new companion the evil eye over the fence as she has been relegated to the other paddock until she acts nicely. She sniffs her, looks angry and rears, but gradually we have got to a sniff, look of disdain and move on, yay!

I was hoping she'd be immediately thrilled but maybe not!

Today they've been sunning themselves hippo style on the highest point of the field.

Yesterday however, appy went through the hedge and took a gander round the Warwick Uni campus, then flaked out in the sun because he was so tired from his escapades.

Fly got lunged this morning and did some loose schooling over poles.

Molly got long reined this afternoon for 5 minutes, then I introduced her to the step. I moved it next to her and got up and down off it a few times. Went from.that to foot in stirrup, standing in stirrup and then leaning right over. She just took it all in her stride :-)

Hope your ankle gets better nice and quickly! My cousin ended up in hospital today due to some problems with the discs in her back so i had 6 horses to care for rather than the 2 im used to. Very busy day!

Not today but on Sunday....baby cob had a ride round the yard solo then down the side of the fields and back up to the yard. He even walked back off the lead rope. Saffy and Rocky went for a walk then Saffy was sat on and I lent on Rocky :D

Start of half term and oldest son decides he want to ride - so impromptu lesson in the school on my cob on the lunge! Very excited and did very well. Over to the retired cob and tearling for the farrier and some poo picking! It was do warm I stripped off the yearling and we went for a walk up the lane - trying to get him used to different sites and found - only thing he spooked at was some wooden bollards!!! Duh! Back to stables in the afternoon - naughty yearling decided he didn't want his rugs back on overnight and would let my son catch him -lol. Every time he got close to him he'd gallop off to the end if the field! Could help for laughing! Old cob had his legs clipped off as he's been stamping quite a bit - only a couple if spots of mud fever - so maybe mites are the problem. Lots of purple spray later they both went back out in the field with full tummies and lots if yummy haylage to eat! It was a glorious day - lovely to spend some quality time with my oldest son and the ponies!

Hope you recover quickly from you me surgery!

Hope your ankle gets better soon OP! Ouchies! :o
My boy and mum's mare had their rugs off again this afternoon because it was a lovely day so they both enjoyed wandering around naked and having a good scratch and chasing my dog slowly if she got too close to them - I'm hoping they'll get used to her and stop pulling horrible faces and walking towards her, they aren't being overly aggressive but she's terrified ha ha! :o my loverly OH took their shoes off and gave them a trim (no one panic he's a farrier ;)) then they got their haylage for the night and they got their rugs back on as it's still a bit frosty overnight here at the moment.
Dependent on the weather and my dental appointment tomorrow I'm hoping to get a bit of lunging in and hopefully I'll be continuing that till thursday when mum can come for a wander with me... my back is better YEAY! :D Can't wait to get back on my boy it's been a month of self imposed riding embargo and I'm just itching to get riding again! :D

Ponies have been to pony club and the horses have been putting their feet up in the field. The Shetland has had a whole day out annoying the others.

Sorry to skite but here in New Zealand we are in drought situation - everything is very dry and temps up in the late 20s C!! My youngster has been with a well respected lady having a few weeks extra experiences so today I took the float and went up and had a ride on him....we went around the farm through ditches (dry and muddy!) over some pipes, under trees and up and down some steep banks.....at least they were steep for me in my dressage saddle!! I will definitely use the GP on my next farm ride!! Then brought him home, he was pleased to be here, but my other 2 have decided he is a newcomer and needs putting in his place!! So I had to sort out all the electric fences - managed about 2/3 of them before exhausting myself!! A lovely day!!!

Mine had a very interesting day. I am training for a 20 mile race so I took her jogging with me in the manner of a very large dog (hopped on for the muddy bits). Then when we got back she got cast and obviously I was the only person at the farm so that was rather stressful.I finally got her up, started crying with relief and she stood their eating her hay like butter wouldn't melt. Then in the late afternoon she broke out of her stable and into the cattle feed shed where the farmer found her stuffing herself. Not happy - this stuff is made of sugar and more sugar, she is cushings and was lami even before that, so it's going to be a worrying few days. Pest of a horse. At least she's cute.

This made me laugh :D:D:D

Getting it to heal well is the whole point of the surgery - not particularly good at the moment but should mean I can get on and do more with my mare and her foal
