Im still on the pony hunt for the little one. I have seen the prefect looking pony and am hoping to go and see it this week. Its a 11hh been there done that 16year old mare. But my car decided to die yesterday and I am going to have to use some of the pony budget to get it repaired, as its a big job. flipping cars. So I am still looking just incase this one doesnt work out and they cant take my offer.

I Have seen a few nice looking shetties described as miniatures. But im not sure on what height would be considered rideable for a shetland and suitable for my little one. I havent ever had any dealings with the tiny sort of four legged friends.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and is 3 foot tall and weights 2 3/4 stone.

so how many inches are we talking?

Thank you very much

Miniature Shetties are a maximum 34 inches, they would carry a child the size of yours no probs. Standard Shetties are a maximum of 42 inches and can carry considerably more. I have personally never seen kids much older than 5ish on a mini. The kids I have seen with standards tend to outgrow them heightwise before they do weightwise :)

If youre on a budget Ive found that the 34" - 38" height bracket tends to be cheaper and would last your child a good deal longer than a tiny , they make great little ponies and Ive seen them out hunting and doing pony club activities etc
