My sports horse colt is almost 6 months old. Measured him today and he's standing at 14hh.

Dam is 16.1hh sire is 17.1hh.

What height would you expect him to make?

19.2 if my horse is anything to go by!

Dam 15'3 sire 14'2, he's currently 16'2 and only 3 and a half yrs old!! he was 14'1 when I got him at 20 months old! so yours is likely to be pretty massive!

I was told years ago by a friend that breeds thoroughbreds to add 2 hands to the height of a yearling to get their approximate height at maturity. Seems to be about right for my ID X as he was 16.2hh at 11 months old and at 6 years old is currently 18.3hh and still growing (so much for the vet telling the breeders he'd make 16.2 max as his dam is 16.2 and sire 16.1).

I did find the following calculation online so might be worth giving it a try.

Take a soft cloth measuring tape (like the kind used for sewing) and measure from the middle of the knee to the coronet band. However many inches, is how tall in hands the horse will grow. Each 1/4 of an inch is equal to .1 hand.

So if you get 14 3/4 inches, the horse will be about 14.3

15 1/2 inches, the horse will grow about 15.2

16 1/4 inches, the horse will be about 16.1
