My 18 year old WB x TB had her shoes taken off last night and I'd like to get some boots for her to help with the transition. Any suggestions as to which ones would suit the shape of these hooves? Thanks in advance.

I think you need some measurements, length and width, to see what will fit. It would also be helpful to get a side shot to see the shape of the foot. I would suggest the near front with a side shot directly at the side and with the camera on the ground.

Does your horse need boots?

Cavallo are a good starter boot, although I have the equine fusion ultimates - which I find are a bit less clumpy, and are easy to get on and off.

I'm having a hoof boot debate too and have arranged for a local fitter to come out and try a few different ones on my lad. I think that might be the best way forward for you too. They vary quite a lot and you could end up making some expensive mistakes.

Thanks everyone for replying! That boot finder thing is brilliant HeresHoping! I measured her too paddy555 and she is 150mm x 150mm on one front and 150mm x 145mm on the other. I brought her in tonight and there's only a short gravelly bit she has to cross and she was quite reluctant. I will give her some time just in the field to adjust to feeling her feet again and then see how she is on slightly harder surfaces.

I recently emailed Liz at Hoof Boutique with measurements and photos, she was so helpful and I was surprised at the boots she recommended after doing my own research, but they fit so well and I have done loads of hacking in them.

So I would suggest doing that.

I third Liz at Hoof Boutique. After trying to go it alone with hoof boots I ended up asking her for advice as I was going round in circles. With photos and measurements she told me which boot and which size DP needed and she was spot on. He now has a lovely pair of copper Renegade Vipers on the front.

Another one for contacting Liz, but looking at them size and shape wise. Renegates would work very very well indeed. Expensive but sooooooo worth it. No need for pads, no rubbing, no slipping on any surface at any speed..... no brainer in my opinion that is :D
