I do everything including riding in my country boots but after reading a thread in CT apparently they are a bit of a riding no-no

What do you ride in?

I ride in boots and chaps when it is dry enough on the ground, I.e. rarely! So the rest of the time (most of the time!) I ride in wellies but they are quite flat tread with a heel.

Why are country boots a no no? I thought most of them are designed to be suitable for yard and riding? What would be the point of them otherwise!

always long leather boots. others like mountain horse and ariat are two wide and my foot got stuck in the stirrup...

I have toggi calgary boots for riding in, love them!
Have ridden in country boots before but found them a bit uncomfortable though as there seemed to be too much bulk on my leg, they weren't particularly well fitted ones though so that may be why, just serves me right for being lazy really! :o

Have some HKM's but they're more for winter riding. Otherwise just some Mark Todd Kepler boots with chaps.

From what I can remember of the thread it was because they are difficult to ride in or give leg aides - I forget which, unsupportive and give no protection should the worst happen

I love my Canyons, they are comfy, flexible at the ankles (unlike the Mudruckers I had before for winter use), I have feeling for when I ride and unlike "proper" long riding boots I don't end up with massive blisters from traipsing about in them :)

Ariat spruce boots (calf length). Wide but I have bent leg stirrups so OK. Jod boots & half chaps if I can be bothered.

Frankly happy to be burried in the Ariats, never had comfier shoes or boots before. I might just be in love..:o

I prefer jody boots and chaps for work as you need flexible ankles. At home ... Not sure I should admit this but walking boots when it's muddy and trainers when the ground is fine ...

I do have big neoprene lined long boots for winter but I find then too big and bulky.

Human boots, love it!

For shows, jod boots and chaps (which I have had since I was about 15, should probably upgrade to long ones at some point :o)

For riding at home, got some inherited clumpy mountain horse jod boots and chaps which don't do up... I think I should sort myself out on the footwear front haha!!

I rode in my Toggi country boots (can't remember their name) last week as my boots are all trashed after our house flooded. Schooling was really difficult and they offered no real support at all. I actually ended up really hurting my ankle ( I have dodgy ankles) to the point of spraining it so I wouldn't recommend schooling in them. Ive ordered some new biots lol!!

for daily use I have mark todd milestone leather boots, I previously had toggi versions of these.

For shows I have a pair of mark todd italian long leather boots, I love mark todd boots haha.

I also have a pair of short ariats and chaps but I rarely ever use them.

I work/wander round the yard in short broginis that I got brand new off of a fb group for £5 :D have been riding in long brogini Romas that I got half price as seconds off eBay but just bought a new pair of mountain horse high riders from a tack sale for £40 so they are now day boots and te B's will be leaned and kept or shows :) love. Good bargain!!

Just Toggs Huntsville - best, most comfy long riding boot I've ever worn :D they are very flexible at the ankle and not too long at the back of my short legs, so no cutting into my knee. Before these, I was only really comfy in short boots and chaps. I don't wear them round the yard tho, so I'm not sure how sturdy they would be for yard duties.

Up until a few weeks ago, toggi canyons. However i'm now the proud owner of some Brogini Roma long boots which are far more comfy to ride in. The canyons have sunk down my leg so caught on the saddle flap. Great for general use then the broginis go on when i'm ready to mount.

Hi, this is my first ever post here having just joined the other day! I used to always ride in long leather riding boots but now I've changed to jodhpur boots and Tredstep half chaps which I love!
