What human products do you use on your horse because they are better/cheaper than the horsey version?

Sudocrem, human hair brush, Avon kids mango detangler for manes and tails, it works and they smell lovely, skin so soft in the hope that it helps keep the midges away plus it makes them shiny and soft. I'm sure there is others but I can't think of them.

Vaseline, sudocrem, germaline, baby oil, epsom salts (bath salts) purple shampoo for socks. V05 firm hold gel for plaiting. Veg cooking oil for extra calories. probably more but I can't think of them right now.

I dread to think how you found this worked..:D

?

I was told about it by someone and I had a horse at the time with extremely thin skin at the corners of his mouth. It's really, really effective!

Anusol pile cream to stop split corners of the mouth.

Magnesium sulphate paste for boils used on nappies as poultices. MUCH better than Animalintex.

Blue rope on old clips as lead topes.
.
Also, famously used by models as a temporary very effective anti wrinkle cream.

Aqueous Cream from the chemists as a replacement for 'Hoof Moist', at a fraction of the cost.

Same as others - sudocrem, orange Body shop spray for insect repellent, baby oil for shiny tails, hair detangler, cheap supermarket shampoo, nappies for protecting absessed feet. I have used hand and nail cream for hooves in the past if they're rubbish. Also used human sun cream on pink muzzles, usually the Childs Farm kind as I feel its more sensitive than others.

Sudocrem is brilliant stuff. Childrens factor 50 suncream on pink noses. Palmers moisture gro hair conditioner as a leave on conditioner (makes manes incredibly soft and smell like coconut!)

Personally not a huge fan of washing up liquid as shampoo- if it can strip a pan of grease, what does it do to skin…

I do use it for cleaning insides of rugs and feed bowls though!

Benylin cough mix : vet recommended.
Cooking oil e.g sunflower : ditto
Diclofenac: instead of Voltarol, also vet recommended.
Sudocrem: other H & H users (not available in any guise in France).
Superdrug: long handled brus/massage brush, for retraining sensitive mare.
Apples and carrots: I feel guilty now if I deprive the horses!

I use loom bands for training the mane type plaits! They're brightly coloured so easy to find if dropped and usually cheaper than proper horse ones. Also seem to be able to stretch more and last longer. I have also used cheap human conditioner instead of horse ones. Oh and car wash type sponges rather than expensive horse ones! ?
