Is a gorgeous padded, sheepskin headcollar for my boy! Does anyone know a good make, long-lasting? He has to have a headcollar on in the field as it is the only way to catch him and I saw a little rub mark on his nose today, so I feel bad and must get him a padded one! Any other suggestions...? x x x

Just a thought but won't a padded one this time of year make him hot, sweaty and uncomfortable? He might end up rubbing more.

Could you stitch a small section of sheep skin or sponge to the head collar over the rubbed area? Then he'll get some relief without getting sweaty ears!

Could you not get some fleece blanket. The thin stuff that babies have on fleece blankets?

If you cut a strip off & then sew it around the noseband & around the headpiece (& throatlash if it's rubbing there) then it should provide some protection but not make him hot & sweaty.

Or even do as above but use velcro so that you can take them off and wash them - keep him and any sores clean in the field!

I'm sure you can buy fleece covers to go on nosebands on ebay. I haven't looked lately but I'm sure I saw some last year.

What i think would be ebst is if you want, buy a sheepskin headcollar for indoors or comps, and then a rubber/sponge padded headcollar for out in the field because the sheepskin could get all tacky and rough when being worn out in the field and it wont look very pleasant, also a rubber padded one will be better in this weather?

Ive got 2 fluffy nosebands that will go on your headcollar. I dont use them on my current horse. If you want me to send you one then just let me know.... pm me if you want
