What I wrong with this horse?

If we got to a viewing stage haha I would probably go at least a couple of times and take my instructor at least once. Oh god would definitely vet :)

Hahaha Dixie mare! I asked a lot of questions so they hopefully will have a lot to reply with! Or they just found my questions annoying :) I am at work so can not call which is rubbish!

The horse looks nice and just looks out of condition.

If you are genuinely interested I would possibly get this thread deleted as if I owned the horse I wouldn't be too pleased to see it on here knowing that you liked it and were generally complimentary but with a thread title advertising to the world that you think there is something wrong with it

What is wrong with this horse?

Heavy-handed unbalanced rider imo.

In the rare parts where the rider holds her hands correctly and sits still e.g. 3.30 at canter, the horse looks much better.

Very good point welsh d. I am not sure how interested I am at this point though as want to see how they answer my questions first.

I would like to see how she goes without the focus being on getting her head down :)

This. She looks like a sweet horse, going on how she puts up with a rider like that. I'd be tempted if I had the money. Luckily I don't :) She does look weak in the back but I expect she's just not done much, a bit of in hand shoulder in and working on her yielding her hindquarters and stepping under would sort that out in no time.

I can't see anything in particular wrong with this horse, and as usual, I am absolutely amazed at the collective gait analysis abilities on HHO :p :D
I quite like her, well, apart from being a midget, that is ;) and think she is about the right price for an empty broodie without a past career to her name.
If I was selling her and came across this thread, I would be a bit miffed, I think.

Yes Martlin I agree I think I would be too, I am not very subtle with how I word things. So will ask admin if it can removed as I don't want to offend them as I do really like her and going off of their Facebook page they seem open and friendly :)

I queried the green-ness, because I don't think she was a broodmare? Ad suggests that they bought her to be a broodmare, and says she would make a nice broodmare - but doesn't say that she has been one. I see a nicely bred mare, who I would have thought was worth a bit more. I know nothing though - I paid a pound for mine ;-)

I have asked about her history and I she has had any foals previously. I don't think I would want her for anything high level just a project to enjoy. Hack a lot and do sponsored rides and maybe a bit of low level dressage. Dizzy is who I want to event if her hooves improve but that is a long long way away and it would be nice to have something to ride now and my partners little girl Is heavily into riding and has a loan at the moment but would be nice to have something for her to grow into. Look at me going off on a tangent really should not be thinking like that!

Good luck with it AR, definatly worth exploring I personally I don't think the seller have any place to be miffed it not that the same as posting pictures from a horse you have come across out there privately , the video and details are out there on the Internet and the more people that see the better for them.
Do let us know how you get on I love other people's horse hunts , much nicer than doing it for yourself.

Thank you goldenstar I wasn't looking for another but I have the time and money for two if I ever found another that I got that feeling for and her advert gave me that tingle :) they have responded asking me to call which is fair it was a lot of questions :) so as soon as my lunch comes up I will :)

I'd want her vetted, I can't see why she's so cheap. The rider is very quiet and sympathetic in the video and she's still arguing and struggling, so bear in mind however she looks there will be her at her current best...

I think she could be very smart though, with some work.

I don't see a horse that is arguing but one that is green and hasn't yet found how to hold her own balance under saddle.

There seems to be a lot to like about her.

Couple of things that stood out.

The business about nowhere to ride out so can only be boxed somewhere. But it looks quite rural.

The ad doesn't match the video. It looks like someone has been putting in some work but it says she's not been in work for three weeks. Would have preferred a quiet trot/canter probably a bit all over he place that matched that.

Nice looking horse though.

Ok just spoke to current owner she was really nice and was happy to answer everything! She bought this mare in January where she had been with her previous owner since a yearling. She had been professionally broken and then that owner had children and this mare basically became a pet for the next few years. The current owner has said I can speak to the old owner of I wanted.
The current owner had her scanned and 5 star vetted when she bought her and she is happy to show me all of the documents from that.
She can be odd to catch apparently but nothing major. She just isn't always pleased about coming in when it isn't dinner and bed time but I am sure with better handling that will get better.
She doesn't know what she is like hacking as she hasn't hacked her but she said she has been fantastic for loading and going to to the outdoor school down the road.
Not spooky and has never bucked reared or napped since she has had her.
She isn't shod has been barefoot all her life and has great feet and has been really good when being trimmed.
She is a good doer.
She is selling her because they have decided to stop breeding due to the current climate and her dog has had a severe accident and needs surgery again on its back legs so she needs the money for that.
She is taking the mare to a local show on Sunday and is going to send me photos and videos of that and hopefully I may go and see her on bank holiday Monday. My boyfriends going to kill me.

If she's local I might pop along to the show and see her informally - you might learn a lot from seeing her in a strange environment when the owner isn't 'showing' her to you.

How exciting !!
Please keep us up to date and let us know what happens.

I'm getting butterfly's in my tummy for you!

If ever you need an extra pair of hands ;) :D

All this sounds very good .
Go to the show if you can , it would perfect to have a quiet look at her be prepared to move quickly if she behaves well.
Exciting stuff.

I'd get I there sooner if you can, you have just told an audience of several thousand people why the mare seems genuine!

Lovely horse with good breeding, I hope you get her and your OH doesn't give you the silent treatment for too long!

Welsh D tbh if it's meant to be it will happen the woman really liked the sound of me and asked me questions about what sort home I am offering. I hope whatever happens to her she goes to a good home as it would be a shame for her to wind up being passed on from home to home

I agree with Welsh D, her ad is also doing the round on FB amongst the breeding peeps and she is very nicely bred .........
