A couple of weeks ago my daughter had her lesson and the instructor put a bungee on him to help bring his head in (he tends to go along with his nose out).

Now I wasn't at that lesson, OH had taken her. Daughter said it went over his head, through his bit and down between his front legs to his girth.

So - what is it? How do we us it? and where do I get one?

Thanks

I am sure not everyone agrees with them, but I use one quite often when I am schooling the Donks to get her to improve her outline while I can focus on getting her to move up from behind (if that makes sense).

It's an elastic strap that goes over the head and through the bits, then attaches either between the legs on the girth or onto the D's on the saddle.

I bought mine for a couple of pounds off ebay and it has been fine.

Thanks for that - he needs to get his head in and use his back end more so perhaps I should get one to use at home. How long would you keep it on for - about 10-15mins or less? (or more?)

I have used one once borrowed a friends and it worked really well, was going to buy one... just never got round too it!!

That I think, is what your daughter used. They can either go to the saddle as in this photo, or to the girth, underneath, say like clipped to the buckle on the martingale.

I use it on my horse, because it's elastic I don't think it can do too much damage in the wrong hands, and I have been very pleased with the results. There are posher, more expensive versions available, but they do exactly the same thing.

ETA We use for up to an hour at a time, on hacks for example, or just simple schooling. Not jumping.
