I am showing my mare in-hand at the end of July. One of the classes (which I have never seen in a schedule before) is "IN HAND SPORTS/COMPETITION HORSE OR PONY".

My girl is a 14.3 registered half-bred Sec D, and I will be showing her in the veteran, open and part-bred in hand classes. This is the final class on the day, so thought I might give that a go too, seeing as I'm there anyway.

Can someone give me an idea what the judge will be looking for so I can decide whether we will "fit in" with the class or not? I show her as a native, and would not plait for this class, so if it is a requirement I won't consider the class.

Thanks :)

My small New Forest mare did this class about 3 years ago at a local show, shown unplaited as a native and came 3rd. It did look a decent class (as in some nice ponies in it) but fairly mixed.

Only way to know is to give it ago. It's good experience for the pony, if nothing else.

Have fun :)

Thanks Crazymare, but unfortunately I can't see your sig - I think I may need to throw my lappie out of the window. Will see if it wants to play tomorrow!
