Just reading the Perrelli post and there's the comment in there about middle aged women.

Then there's the comments made in H&H last year about middle aged women and dressage.

There's even BBmatt's signature

We're also the dreaded pony club mums.

Then we're the terrible showing queens and doyennes of the pony world

It seems we're the joke of the equestrian world all round. What did we do wrong and does it piss any one else off ?

Then there's the bit of me that knows these things get said because they are partly true.
Can we change this image?

I am one too. And yes it can annoy me a tad. But at the end of the day if it were not for us middle aged woman the equestrian industry would be in tatters!

Surely nowadays middle-aged is more about type than age? And if that's the case I'd like to be middle-aged in a Lucinda Green way rather than a Pammy Hutton way.

do we care ?

let people think what they want to think

if you are happy in what you do and your animals are happy and a credit to you then sod'em

it's just jealousy - we are happy, successful and have the income that allows us to participate in our sport/hobby/interest.

I am pleased to be able to walk into a yard and not be treated like an idiot because I look younger however being a Kylie middle age woman would be kinda nice!

Well I am too old then but agree with Airdale, SOD THEM. They are just jealous because we are all enjoying ourselves!! AND if we want special dressage classes we can jolly well have them. There are special classes for Juniors, noviceswhatever. The grey (or only slightly grey) pound is strong!

Well in that case, again I am a middle aged woman, who plays polocrosse, polo at home, don't have any children and have more horses than I can shake a stick at! sod them remember it is usually the minority they target and think that is the general picture. If they think that then let them we know we are not all like that!

You can, although I reckon middle-aged Drew Barrymore would have much more fun than the Posh Spice version. In that case can I be middle-aged a la Sandra Bullock please?

IM ONE! IM ONE! IM ONE!

I love being 'middle aged' cos now I can be RUDE and jut blame it on my age. Cos all us middle aged woman MUST be going through the 'change' hehehehehe

OMG, I'm middle aged! I am still 18 inside, really I am. Although my confidence goes through the floor sometimes, but thats cos I'm too busy thinking of not breaking bones, thats why we do dressage and tiny jumps! (speaking for me personally)

I say sod 'em too!!!!

i dont even think about my age, literally, this thread just made me realise its my birthday in 7 days and id forgotten all about it!!
i'll be *mumbles* years old!

AliBabe seems to think that we're viewed as the joke of the equestrian world, whereas we all reckon the rest of the equestrian world have a bad case of the green-eyed monster!

Look at the different types of people that have posted on this thread: there's very few similarities other than our age range. I'm sure that if I posted something about ALL teenage girls covering their ponies in pink stuff and spending too much time in bed/texting/watching soaps they'd soon be up in arms about it!
