to not worry about money? To be able to go to the feed store aznd not have to think have I got enough money to cover this?
I hate being brasic, but what can you do?!
Im a groom (= crap wage = poor) my parents are Self employed farmers (= no wage = very poor) and my partner is a farm worker (= not quite as poor as me but getting there!!) My neds live in the sheep barn in stables made of (giant) straw bales, and have to come in as there is no shelter in their field - ok for the sheep but not for them!
I suppose I should jack in the grooming and use my qualifications, but I had a breakdown a couple of years back working 40+ hour weeks in an office, and I really dont want to go back to how I was.
My depression is ok ish at the mo (I dont cry every day so thats good) ands my ME isnt awful just yet - I can still get out of bed - but I would love to know what it was like, just for a day, to feel normal (whatever that is??) and not worry how Im going to pay the vet/farrier/feed merchant etc..

Sorry, pointless and self-centred post, ignore my patheticness!!!!!! xxx

Thanks Martin, you have a huge point there! Thanks for that! CallyH, unfortunately Im not deaf enough, depreesed enough or tired enough for benefits, and a second job could be great, I could do admin in the afternoons or something, just dont know if my health would hold out... sound pathetic dont I! I have to alternate my poo picking and riding days as I dont have the energy for both in one day!! x

Would it be possible to do 2 partime jobs?
So you could be a partime groom & do a "proper" job partime as well so boost your income.

Oh Rosehip don't be sad

Do you work full time as a groom? Have you considered going freelance as I believe this pays better (though could be wrong!) I know how you feel, I am a groom too and it sucks sometimes

At least you have your lovely horses to look after. Could you maybe look for some work from home jobs, then you could have more flexible hours and wouldn't be stuck in an office allday?

I would get a sharer for your non-riding days, someone who can poo-pick AND pay £10-20 a week depending on amount of riding/poo picking.
I would look for an afternoon job, they're more available than morning part time work as they don't tend to fit in with school pick up times as well as the morning ones. A friend of mine works 'in' a catalogue call centre - but actually from home - the calls are diverted to her there to take the orders she works on her own PC. She sorts her shifts to fit in with when she has the kids (single mother).
I would think the sheep barn with bales of straw walls would be lovely and cosy and better than a wooden stable, being well ventilated too.

The stables are pretty cosy to be honest, I just get down in the dumps about the neds being in those when in the firld next door the wierd lady down the lane has put a brand new shelter in for her 2 retired neds - Mels and Seren could live out with one of them, but no money to do it with.
I couldnt have a sharer unfortunately, Seren is 12.2 4yo and isnt broken to drive yet, and Mel is very adamantly a mummys girl - she played up something chronic whilst I was at burghley cus she wasnt seeing me, also she isnt a novice ride and Id hate someone to get hurt on her, or to lose their temper with her and bop her one. I do freelance work too, so that helps with the spare change, I could just do with a bit more!! xxx

MrsMozart, I love that! Im going to steal it and keep it as a motto!!!
Thanks to all of you who have cheared me up and given me virtual hugs (and kicks up the ass!) Just what I needed! lol!

Everything will work out, Just got to tighten my belt another couple of holes! Im going to have to lose weight now!
