Ok brief history:
5 years ago hubby and I bought sidney - brilliant, wonderful horse who got kicked in the field and now no longer can be ridden.
I in the meantime had got Hovis who is a star!
Hubby then bought Omar. A stunning looking brute of a horse with amazing looks and a cr*p attitude to work. He broke hubbys arm 3 weeks after we had him, reared if you pushed him to do work, hated show jumping and generally was an utter pig. After battling for 12 months, encouraged by instructor hubby found Omar a hunting home where he is having a ball (well judging by the monthly photos!!).
5 weeks ago we finally found Pride. A talented WBX who has lovely paces, a massive jump and is v well trained. He is a little nervy but ok ish. He rides nicely, is v tolerant to a point BUT three times now he has p**sed off with hubby when hubby is mounting him. Last time last weds i didn't see but by all accounts was ferious and resulted in hubby hitting the deck. We have had the physio out who pointed out he is lacking a little muscle on his topline, we have an appointment booked with the physio and our saddler next week.
Today hubby has taken him to oakham and had xrays etc done - all of which are clear. Polly Jackson (yes the Polly Jackson!!) got on him at the vets (after their rider refused to get on him! She was there with some of her horses) and he rode like a dream. The vets view is there nothing physically wrong with him and he is more than capable of carrying hubbys weight.
So what to do?
The vets have given us bute to ride him on for 2 weeks in case it is pain and they are missing something. Physio and saddler fitter are going to come up with a cunning plan to try to help. But other than that we are now at a loss. any ideas?
