What is it ????

I am not sure what this is but I noticed a brown bubble, blob type thing in my mares eye ball the other day. It sits next to the pupil and just looks like a brown liquid filled bubble. Just wandered if it is normal or something to worry about. She has no pain, swelling, discharge etc and has had no injuries. Any ideas??? Also in vet.

a bubble on the eye surface may be an ulcer. A little shetland down our yard had this. ???

Its not on the surface, its actually inside the eye.

I know exactly what you mean, loads of horses have them, pretty sure they are normal but dunno what they are exactly! would be interested to know though.

The horse in my sig has a big one in each eye, but they dont seem to bother him and they dont affect his vision and the midget has a small one on one eye too. Dont know about the nervous one as he wont let me get close enough.

It's just part of their eye. I asked my vet about it once and it's just the way the eye is made. x

Yup all of mine have them, perfectly normal although scared me when I first spotted it. Thought something had burst in his eye!

I owned my oldie for 20 years and the blob you describe actually got larger with time. My vet used to look at it now again too, said it was interesting that it was growing lol!

Thanx everyone. I now know what they are!! They are called corpora nigre. They are iris cysts!! Just relieved that it is not gonna pop!!1
