I bought my mare in today & picked her feet out - on the heel of her front foot she had a little red circle (about the size of a 10p pence) there was a groove around it, silly me didnt get any photos
anyway she was reluctant to pick the foot up & when riding her she didnt feel lame but she didnt feel quite right, I am calling the vet first thing tomorrow morning anyway but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions ???

Does she have white feet? - Sounds like it might be an over reach which has bruisd the skin but not enough to make her lame. If she's not lame then give her a day or more before calling in the vet.

Do you mean on the heel bulb i.e. skin or the sole of the foot heel?
