I'm doing my first pony club novice ODE at Ardingly soon, and wanted to know what the xc course is like there.

(Pony club novice is the equivalent to BE Intro, so I'm guessing they'll be using the intro level fences)

Bach's recue remedy (from a health shop) is meant to help competition nerves - you can give them to your horse too. I don't compete but have friends who use it. Good luck and just put whatever happens down to experience. At least you will have got your first event out of the way.

I've been doing lots of unaffiliated ODEs and BE intros, so I'm not worried about being nervous.

I just want to know what the xc course is like, and how well mantained it is.

It's very well maintained as it forms part of the South of England showground. It is a lovely course. They don't run BE intro there (starts at PN) but there are intro sized fences as Ardingly RC run novice & intemediate classes there.

very nice inviting course, mostly flat. I managed to get a good pace on there when doing a hunter trial. Its really good fun there. Good luck

Im guessing you're doing the pony club area 11 horse trials there?? the course is well maintained - i have a feeling the take offs and landings will be sanded for these horse trials and if needed it will be agrivated though there has been sooooo much rain i doubt it will be needed!! the course will be up to height but fairly inviting and straight forward - allows positive bold riding

cool it sounds like ardingly is really good then, I thought I was jumping in a 3ft 1" class, but I've just found out it's only 2 ft 9" which should be good.

I'm not sure whether it's an area 11 thing because someone else entered me in it, but I'm guessing it is.
