What's the best thing horsey you've bought, or something you now couldn't live without?

Been asked what I want for my birthday next month, and being permanently skint, I want to choose wisely ;)

So looking for inspiration! :)

I have no idea what kind of brush it is (looks like something you would wash the dishes with) but it gets rid of even the thickest dried on mud in one quick sweep!! Saves me loads of time :)

Horseware wrap-around exercise rug in gold newmarket stripe. :D Easy to fit, brightly coloured and warm. I use it all the time in the colder months and we've been rained on a few times and my mare has stayed dry.

My Dubarry boots :) I use them for walking the dogs, riding (hacking and schooling) polish them up and wear to the pub, treking across muddy fields to get horses in, wading into the river to rescue my over-adventurous JRT.... I know some people hate them, but they are the best (and most useful) horsey item I currently own!

Other than that, my snuggy hoods turnout hoods - means I can ride my horses in the winter after work without spending an hour de-mudding them!

Ok, I now want everything you've mentioned, lol!

The Sunshower rug looks fab, thanks, firmly on the wishlist ;)

And I love the Horseware newmarket rug, so smart. Could also get a matching coat for the dog...

Snuggy Hood is a really good idea too, kind of thing I can't justify spending ££ on, but so useful. Especially with a mainly grey horse.

Decisions, decisions! :D

My house and land ;)

Slightly impractical for a Birthday present perhaps though:(

When I first started dating my husband, for Valentines he bought me a...........fork! I had that fork for 15 years, about 20 horses and 4 yards, it rated amongst one of the most useful presents I have ever had.

I mean, diamonds are pretty but, let's face it, they are of absolutely no use whatsoever are they? Unless you sell them to buy a horse etc;)

hmmm..I couldnt decide on one.... so put a few.

my equilibrium massage pad....horse loves it and its really beneficial.

vented hat..no more sweaty head!!

my muck boots....no more cold feet in winter.

my amigo lite rug....very useful when I want to ride and its threatening to rain and soak him beforehand.

My GPS wrist thing..tells me how far we have gone, how fast/slow etc and average speed.

Look on ebay - some snuggy hoods come on there occasionally at bargain prices. IMO the turnout ones are worth every penny as for me it means I can ride every night rather than spending hours trying to de-mud my horses. The PJ's (I have the red sheep ones) are not really a necessity to be honest, but I do like my horses to be cosy in their stables too.

enfys & muddy_grey, I was a lucky girl too and got a hosepipe from my OH last Christmas, you're not the only romantic ones! And I got a head torch the year before (although it is very handy having both hands to do the gates in the dark) ;)

Well, I think I am going for a bridle. I have a perfectly acceptable bridle, if a little tatty, but I really (really) want one of the lovely leather Jeffries bridles to match my saddle, with a flat noseband: http://www.rideaway.co.uk/jeffries-cavesson-bridle-34/default.aspx

Will have a scout on ebay for snuggy hoods too, thanks :D

ETA lochpearl, your horses are gorgeous! :)

:D Our menfolk are obviously killing two birds with one stone, they'd probably have to buy these items anyway, so they may as well tie a ribbon around it and be done with it! I got a head torch too, it's never been on my head - I put it around senior GSD's neck last thing at night so I can see where he is and can call him back before he goes rousting skunks.

Intrigued to learn, was your hosepipe gift wrapped?

It was indeed wrapped, very nicely too, as were the mudguards I also received last Christmas (for my bike, not the horse).

I'm liking the headtorch on the dog idea. Wearing it on my head has led to me being known as Florence on the yard...:D

FleabittenT thank you! I also got a headtorch from my hubby and also one of those slim metal ones in metalic pink!! bless him, oh and a funky hat that I wouldn't be seen dead or alive in!!!

Ooo I have a list!

My thermal chaps - bliss in the winter

My gloves with little heaters inside them - like having an electric blanket round your hands!

Vented hat - no hot heads

Mains electric unit that does 42km of fence and goes to 7000v!!!

Pessoa

Head torch

And the neddies

And a house with land

And my other half who is building me stables :)
