What is the best tip you've got from this forum?

The potty idea is genius, the pound shops won't know what has hit them tomorrow!

Off top of my head, the person who suggested a single breast bar to help with my mare's scrambling problem, that was a godsend, she still isn't great at loading but hopefully she will one day!
 
omg pottys as raised trotting poles that is just amazing!!!!!!! first thing tomorow im going down the the pound shop, think ill get a few funny looks when i walk into the yard with a bagful of potties but itll be worth it when i explain haha :')

More info please mine is a buggar for rubbing his tail!! Just the liquid stuff? Do you dilute it and wash the tail in it or just put it on neat?
 
Its thanks to this forum that I heard about the equine blood banks. My disaster, write-off horse would have been pts had she not been lucky enough to land a place there for a few more years, and she's saving lives. :cool:
 
Take the partition out of the trailer - Now my mare pulls ME into the trailer!
Benzyl Benzoate for Sweet Itch - Now I have so much mane I have to pull it!
Give her a break - 2 weeks off, and all tantrums gone! - We were both getting too worked up!
'Dont LET him do that' - Horses dont understand why you keep changing the rules, keep them simple!!!
Dont use neatsfoot on leather - I now have soft supple buttery leather that I know wont rot!
Neue Schule Bit - I thought it was an expensive snake oil - Worked a treat for me!!!!
Sing whilst hacking - Brings Mum's nerves down a treat!

Dont sweat the small stuff!!! ;)

Prior to this, Slinky Unicorn's tip about giving Aloe Vera to horses with itchy legs - it made a vast difference!

It was the instruction my first (childhood) RI used most. She didn't often tell you how to stop him doing that but woe betide you if he carried on doing it, so you soon worked it out. Her point was that the rider was in charge, not the horse.
 
Am picking up loads of tips on this post alone - thanks guys. Would be interested in the TCP tip for it by tail, I stocked up on benzyl benzoate a couple if y ago when I was told it was not going to be sold at pharmacies but my supply us running very low!! :( :( :(
 
Picked up a few from this thread - I'm another 1 off to the pound shop for potties & I must remember not to say "don't dip, dazzle" out loud!
I religiously use Theresa_F's pig oil instructions & often use the Baydale quote in all sorts of situations, not just horsey.
But probably the best thing I have picked up is that no one knows everything, but most people know something so always think about what is being said before you follow/dismiss it.

Damnation told me to loosen, rather than tighten, my flash to stop boy-o putting his tongue over the bit - worked a charm.
Invaluable hints and tips about managing a laminitis-prone horse.
Whoever gave me Claire Macleod's details when I needed an independent nutritionist - thanks, she's brilliant!
