Both my babys are ex-racers
My 16.1hh 12 yr old cost me £300 tack and rugs inc
He was a sprinter who was never placed..we have had a few hick ups but we found the light at the end of the tunnel and he is my bombproof hack/dog..he has some of the best breeding, great conformation and a temperament to die for!!
My 15.3 hh rising 5 yr old dapple grey filly cost me £650 sprinter as well
She was off the track two weeks when I bought her... she really has amazed me as for such a young girl she is so bold!..I am still getting to know her but she goes all gooey eyed when we are having cuddles, and is a pleasure to ride as she jus aims to please me. She is my perfect project as.
ex-racers are certainly an acquired taste as they are sensitive some more than others...but with an exracer you can easily find out all the history as i have with mine...i cannot describe the pleasure my two give me and the bond we share as no one will realise until you own one..i have had Arabs and a cob but none have ever been as affectionate as my two TBs.
As with every horse they can b a handful and push their luck but they are rough diamonds. And they are great projects. have to say though they are a one man horse (mine only reli respond to me) but i spose in racing and previous experience being a groom its all about the one to one with TBs
So all in all mine were very very cheap but soo so cheerful"
Good luck
