My yard has slowly stopped offering a full on service as to be honest its not really a livery yard and the owners have a couple of horses of their own that just live in the field and they have one grade a that ive been competing for them for a couple if years. I have two of my own there and there are two liveries and thats it. Basically im snowed under with work running my own business and im finding it difficult going twice a day to the yard, having two to turn out and muck out in the mornings then three to bring in at night and ride!! Im thinking of getting someone to do the mornings for me but dont know what to offer pay wise??? One of the liveries has said she is interested in doing it but to be honest she spends a lot of time at home sick so im not sure really. However if she did it surely i wouldnt have to pay as much as she will be there doing her horse anyway?? So any ideas would be much appreciated as at the moment im doing a 13-14 hour day and not enjoying it :(

Someone all ready on site to do turnout and full muck out is about £5 for one offs most places I know, or maybe have a deal on to do the full week for less as a regular job. If someone comes in from off the yard as a freelance you'd be looking at probably about £10 per hour (and none are likely to come for less than one hour's fee with the price of diesel, etc, so you could perhaps use them for other jobs as well to fill up the hour).

I help out at my yard for a fee and charge:

£1 for one way turnout in or out (inc rug change)
£1 for up to 3 nets to be filled
50p for cleaning and filling a water bucket
50p for making up and giving a feed (free if already made up)
£4 for mucking out inc hay and water sorted

£5 for all of the above

I don't take into consideration diesel etc as I'm at the yard for my own horses anyway. If I wasn't I' be inclined to charge a bit more.

Im paid £5 (summer) and £7.50 (winter) a day by a friend to sort her horse- this includes turn out/bring in/ lunge/muck out/ water/ hay/ feeds

The extra £2.50 in the winter is for extra hay making, rugs and a skip outof an eve.

£ 1.50 turnout with rug change

£ 1 catch in no rug change
£ 1.50 catch in no rug change

£ 4 muckout hay feed + eve catch in no rug change
