an experienced horse for loan?

After all the trouble I've had with Ty (medically wise) I'm thinking I might prefer to loan something long term rather than buy.

Apparently my instructor told me I just missed out on a 14 year old ex Novice eventer who needed a quieter life just jumping 3ft courses

so I guess they are out there but I just need to spread the word a bit.

Would also mean that potentially I could keep my boy as I wouldn't need to find intial capital to fund a new horse. This would also make keeping two really not an issue financially as I wouldn't have other debts and I've got a fantastic sharer.

All just at idea stage but just trying to work around keeping the boy if I can.

Such an up and down time at the moment and really trying to make things work!
 
It's possible. I've got a lovely 13yo Hanoverian ex-SJ mare on loan. Had her a couple of months or so now and she's a star, really teaching me an awful lot. I was really lucky in that she was the first horse I actually went to see but I found out about her through word of mouth as the owner didn't want to advertise her.

Looking for either mare or gelding, ideally something that could compete working hunter (so not too warmblood looking) xc and showjumping.

Also be nice to have something my boyfriend can hop on for a chilled hack out while he's getting his confidence back riding.

My boy is so good with him but he does look like his legs are going to buckle!

An honest horse really that will teach me a bit. At the same time, if the horse loves jumping I'm happy to bring it on....

Must be able to hack out alone or in company.....
 
Have you tried Horsequest?

I personally will only have any horse loan view to buy, too many people lie and I want to know the horses before parting with cash, which is what I did.
 
I haven't tried horsequest - will have a look.

I think that after buying Ty, who was sold to me as a 16.1, 12 year old schoolmaster(WTF), who could see in both eyes, I've become alot more savvy and now have a good network of knowledgeable people around me to guide me towards the right horse.

That said, I don't want to part with £4k and find out I've brought more problems.

Fingers crossed something will come up.

It's funny as I didn't even think about loaning, but when I think back I learnt more on my loan ponies than any horse I've ever owned!
