My beautiful mare has a few problems with her feet when the weather is wet. I decided to keep her in over night for a couple of days while the rain was very bad. I dont have a stable, so a friend kindly let me use hers...

In the corner of her stable was a 4 draw cabinet. Each draw had a string around it attached to the wall so the draws cannot be opened.

I arrived at the yard in the morning, called to my mare and her head didnt appear over the door. When I looked over I nearly fainted! She had somehow managed to open every single draw of the cabinet and empty the entire contents. She had eaten the bag of apples and carrots, both of which were in sealed bags inside a carrier bag. A massive swede was missing also. She had opened a lick and was happily licking away, opened all of the lids of anything she could fine including the hoof moisturisers (solid fortunately!) She had opened all the tubs and thrown the contents everywhere! To make it worse the second I opened the stable door she went under the chain across the entrance and buggered off!

At the time I was shocked and typically in a rush that morning! I love my pony to bits and in all honesty, its these moments when i love her most!

So what have your angels been up to? x
 
I think I have the ultimate in destroyer of a pony- haynets are a huge no-no, hay therefore gets trampled round stable and thrown over door- he gets quite hungry overnight! Feed bowls (even the supposedly indestructible rubber ones) don't last for more than an hour in his stable before being ripped to shreds, have even tried over the door bowls and clipping one on to the wall.
Number of rugs ripped was a record 4 in a week (I'm talking bad rips, not little ones!)
He's also pulled the pipes for his auto waterer off the wall (water buckets don't last 5 minutes). Oh, and I put a pimple rubber mat at the front of his stable (he was wearing his hooves down scraping the floor) and he's pulled all the pimples off- no idea how!
Think that's more or less it! I do still love him though (just!) :o
 
The fun ones are so much more interesting than the well behaved ones! :p
Oh, I forgot- when at the livery yard mine used to have an old welly to play with in his stable- he enjoyed throwing it at the poor horse next door who would go and sulk at the back of his stable. Had to stop giving it to my boy when the horse next door got too scared to put his head out the door!

Our New Forest seems to think he's human. If the ponies are mowing the back lawn you have to remember to shut the conservatory door otherwise he come indoors, fortuntely there's enough stuff to play with in the conservatory that we usually hear him before he gets in the kitchen..
 
I don't think I could list all the naughty things he's done! Granted, most are out of fear, but they've either been a major waist of time, expensive, or just downright annoying!

He's jumped out of his pen countless times
Ripped a stable door clean off it's hinges
Reared when asked to go in front
Broken the fence
Kicked several other horses (thankfully grown out of this habit!)
Not leaving the yard for an hour and a half
Getting into the hay supply
And soooo many more!
 
Our 16hh chunky cob got under a 2' railing into the hay field last week. No damage to rest of fence or to himself.. goodness knows how he managed it. He was a b***er to catch!!
 
My pony is 14.1 and when she is in season, she jumps into the boys field over a 5ft gate. Can I get her to trot over a 6in pole on the lunge? Can i b*gger!
 
The naughtest thing Lucy ever did was also the most cleaver in my opinion. ;)

Now Lucy could open any stable door, Even the horseproof bolt ones :confused: But her best escape was when we were at the riding school.
She desided she wanted a midnight snack so let herself out her stable as she often did, then she opened the feedroom door (the feedroom was an empty stable) and had her fill. Then she must have let all the other horses out :eek: I arrived for work in the morning to find horses wondering everywhere and where was Lucy. Well she was back in her stable looking all angelic asif to say, "Look at all those naughty horses mummy, I'd never do anything like that" :rolleyes: ;) :p :D She did so many naughty things, there was never a dull moment with Lucy around :D
 
when my forester was about 3, bt came to put a cable up to one of the telegraph posts on the edge of her field, firstly as they dragged the cable across the field she jumped on the cable and would'nt get of, when they got the cable to the post and put the ladder up the guy went up the ladder she got hold of the ladder wouldnt let go and tried to pull it down the guy on the ground tried to sho her away but she wouldnt leave, eventually she left. other pony just chucks everything over the stable door.

But that was the only nasty one

Other than that he chews everything not destroy it just soaks in- he hate anything hung up and likes to pull everything off shelves he is more than happy to grap a feed sack and run around with it flapping around his head scaring the others- he's like a labrador pup- you have to make sure he can't reach anything!

My pony tries to drag my mother over the stable door if she feeds him I think he's got a "thing" for her coat not her but its so funny to watch her shout at him and him not give a toss its just priceless as he' 14'2 and she's 5'0 :D
 
Bailey has to date;

Escaped from his field numerous times but hasn't left any evidence..... (No damaged fencing or loose electric tape!)

Eaten through the 6 layers of wrapping around a haylage bale and demolished the middle of the bale.

Ripped numerous tie rings off the wall and broken through numerous twine rings; never escapes, just stands there looking pleased!

Chews other horses tail flaps on their rugs

Will lift up and empty water buckets if they're light enough

Will chew the tops of electric fencing posts and lift them up if he can

Will try to run off when my mum leads him

Will attempt to let himself out of his stable by licking + biting the bolt, when he realises its not working he'll kick the door

When he knows its feed time he'll paw at the floor until you give him his bucket

When he's at a show he'll nap to the other horses and have a big paddy when we try to warm up

But otherwise he's perfect in every way :)
 
Forgot the best; will drink from the hose while you're trying to fill the water, getting me soaked and preventing me from actually filling the buckets!!!
 
He got an abscess so had to come in a night, we have a small yard so would mean he was in on his own, so thought putting a gate on the field shelter would be better so he could still see the mares! he's 2 and had never been stabled before, he was fine to start with.

In the morning I got up there, he'd jumped the gate and got out into a walk way leading to the field, then some how pulled another gate off of its hinges and opened it about 5 foot and was galloping down the lane! luckily, i'd finished work an hour early and found him charging down the lane, with the mares running with him, while still in the field! he then darted into a crop field and was churning the sides up trying to get close to the mares!

luckily he came over to me a let me catch him!!
 
Mine breaks muzzles, with the nylon ones she goes to the fence (barbed wire unfortunately) and methodically unpicks the stitching holding the rubber onto the nylon, she does this for a few of the joins until she can get her foot on the bottom and rip it off. I am about to try a greenguard one on her, let's see how inventive she can be with this one

:DGeorge is generally a good boy, but when he moved to his current stable which is huge (20 x 14) I decided to put my large storage box in the stable as there was plenty of room for it and he's never touched rugs hanging in his stable etc. YM came to feed him in the morning to find him standing on it with his front legs like some kind of circus horse :D decided to remove it the following day, but found it completely flattened in a heap :eek: - decided he didn't like it in his stable!

The other thing he did was when we just about to load up to go to dressage, all plaited and shiny, something spooked him he broke free, cantered into the field by the yard that was open, had a good hoony and then proceeded to roll :eek: he was not popular................well until he won a frilly at the dressage :D

When I was turning out (have to go through two other fields) my mare flung her head up causing the "safety lead rope" to snap... But she did it meanlessly as there was only a fly :mad: she realised she was off and galloped around the field with her boyfriend whose stomach ulcers had just stabilised :(:eek: luckily he was fine!
 
Managed to climb through a rope fence to get into another field - he got his head under the top rope, totally ignoring the electric current, then stepped over the bottom rope into the next field - took us a while to figure out how he was doing it. His fence now has 3 lines of rope :D
 
Ron doesn't really do naughty - involves too much effort, and he might get told off. But he does chew lead ropes and he's quite good at inventing things to shy at if something is hard work!

Tom however, is the naughtiest of naughty. He broke into the haylage store the other day and bit holes in the wrapping of every bale of haylage except one, and pulled about a mouthful of haylage out of each bale... and then stood there and snoozed in the shed! :eek:
He also undoes himself and naffs off (especially at events as the rest of the world is more interesting than his trailer and haynet)
He throws stuff about the place - anything he can reach is in danger of tramping, flinging or drowning in his water bucket!

we used to have an old pony who was even naughtier - he could undo any bolt, catch, latch or sneck, and used to let himself out of his stable (inc kick latch) and then into the feed shed, down the 4 wooden steps, into any bin, stuff himself silly, then reverse out (there's not enough room to turn a 13hh pony round in there!) up the steps then go and let the others out, and stand laughing at them when they couldn't get into the shed because they were too tall! :D:D

Galloped off in the field when putting him out, despite the fact I was still there on the other end of the headcollar :rolleyes: Luckily seemed to be a one off after making him redo it :p

However, just last week I had my rucksack hanging up on my rug rail, I went to the tack room, came back, the cheeky ned had taken it off the rail, opened it (!!), thrown everything around, eaten the apple that was inside, and buried my housekeys and a red pen in the process. Found the red pen while mucking out 2 days later (so relieved it was ink I found earlier while mucking out and not bloody shavings!), house keys have yet to be found :rolleyes: xx
 
Lots. Is extremely good at opening stuff, including kickbolts. Has let herself out of stable, & on one occasion the field. Now wised up to her but in the past has got out at night, eaten two bales of hay & slept in haybarn till next morning. Once when at a bd comp with bosses horses I unloaded her & tied her to the side, (shes like a first pony to handle). Unfortunately, the box next to us had a couple of beagles, being quite fond of her hunting she decided it was a hunt meet, & set off round the car park in search of the rest of the meet, still in travelling stuff. Eventually caught her after several circuits of the lorry park. Very very embarrassing.
Also she doesn't tolerate fools. Great with kids, teens etc but has dumped several adults whose riding style she didn't appreciate. Granted it was deserved, but then would trot over to me with a very proud expression. Also if tied up within reach of others stables, she will open the door & drag any feed out, including untying the haynet.
Daughters is just a messer, likes picking stuff up so tips skips, wheelbarrows, grooming kit etc. Knows people are off limits but will hold anything else in her mouth. Also due to a woman chasing her with a whip in the field, pony started to chase her back. Highly amusing, if immature to watch someone you dislike running at full pelt with an 11.1 in pursuit.
 
my lads rather commical, if he decides he wants to roll without his rug on he will grab the chest of the rug pull it down whilst also lowering his head and in effect pulling the rug right off and stepping over the surcingles, caught him doing this one day and figured he wanted to roll with no rug, once hes rolled u can happily put the rug back on and hes fine! also he tries to exit the lorry via the side door not the ramp! shakes his head constantly until you have undone his noseband, although does not head shake when ridden at all! :D :D :D gota love em!
 
Given that she's known for being a sweetheart and everyone always comments on her good behaviour, my mare has managed some corkers! She broke my YO's leg several years ago :eek: and managed to put a very good friend of mine in hospital a while ago by trampling over her :o. Needless to say I've had a lot of apologising to do!
 
I often used to find Choccy on the wrong side of the lekkie fencing and a whole length of it laying flat on the ground.

Watched him one day ... he grabs a post top with his teeth, above the wire, and pulls it out, then walks to the next post and pulls that out. Repeats until he's pulled out about 4-5 posts by which time that length of fencing is laying flat on the ground going POP POP POP and then he just calmly steps over it to the other side.
 
Well I wouldn't say that Oakley was naughty more cheeky. The worst thing he has done would be similar to what your mare did. When he was kept in a barn, sectioned off to accommodate a few horses (he now has his own stable), he got over (or under) the partition into the bit where we kept grooming kits and rugs. Needless to say he trashed everything and when we came in the morning he was back in his section with the remains of his grooming kit... chewed to pieces. Another time when he got a new rug it materialised in his section only to find it covered in wee and poo, his way of saying baby blue is too girly. The more serious things he has done are mainly due to being a spooky pony scared of his own shadow but to be honest I love his quirks, if he didn't have them he would be boring. :)
