The plan Yesterday was to go SJ - the show was a good hour away. On Sunday i realised I had no money, so blagged my dad to pay diesel for me...

Half way there, feeling very hung over - I realised i didn't have my shirt and stock... but thought I'd managed without.. 15 mins later - no boots!!!! Now I had cowboy boots on but I don't think they would have gone down well - even BSJA!!

So we turned round and went home - my dad was not impressed at all!!!!! Oooopppssseee!!!!

So - is it just me???

I managed to forget my bit before but luckily the show wasn't too far away so a friend who was at the yard drove it over. Also my sister managed to forget her girth once and only realised when she went to tack up, the yard where the show was being held also had a riding school there so we were able ot borrow one. Sure there are much worse things I've managed tod do but I cant remember at the moment

I forgot my hat when going sj ing. Was kindly lent one by a pony club mum... only it was a Donald Duck hat complete with beak & pompom & I had to jump in it all day.

Have also put my dr shirt to one side to pack last so it wouldn't get creased & ended up forgetting it. Luckily I was wearing a white T shirt, so duck taped my collar to the t shirt to make it look like a comp shirt.

I've also used old number string to tie my hair up & once turned up for a dr lesson without a bridle & had to borrow one.

We took a 3 box loads of RDA ponies to a show once (all 10 of them) and got there to discover we'd forgotten to bring the bridles.......

First riders had to do their test with borrowed bridles (and one with a headcollar as no-one had a bridle small enough) whilst i rushed home (a good half hour away) to get them. Felt very silly!

I've forgotten my BSJA cards with all of my reg. numbers on them. My Dad had a go at me and turned around and came home when we were about 2/3's of the way there!

And I once dropped Boom's passport in the grass at Towerlands. Luckily someone handed it into the reception.

I forgot my jacket at an ODE earlier this year. Had to borrow my friends jacket who was in the same class as me, so we had to keep swapping.
It didn't fit me well at all!

I forgot my long leather boots and only realised 45 mins before I was due on for my dressage at BE Central Scotland. Had to shell out £275 to buy a pair from the saddlery on-site (who I know well) and they have never let me forget it since! They even hid the box from my husband so he didn't know how much I'd spent.

At least I was placed, but it was the most expensive rosette I've ever had!

Once so hung over I forgot the course at a HT, a very cross lady was following me as I veered haphazardly across the fields, then at the last minute I changed direction at a fence on my handy little ponio as realied the one I was aiming at had no flags on
blush.gif
, lady following on massive horse wasn't so lucky & got a stop, I continued with her voice ringing in my ears that I had ruined her round
blush.gif
, then when the results went up, I'd won!! For the life of me I don't know how, but I felt really ill on the way home
frown.gif
& received no sympathy from anyone, self inflicted & all that.

Noodlejaffa, that's ace. I think next time I go to a big show, I'll forget some stuff so i have a good excuse to shop.

I had a ode last weekend and forgot b's event boots & saddle cloth I had washed the night before & left on the drying rack in the conservatory. i miss the flat, before we moved to the house you couldn't miss these things, because everything was laid out in one room. OH had to get out of bed and rush them up to the yard.

Last month I was xc training & forgot my girth, luckily yo was coming up to watch and took it with him. That was stupid, never done it before & always double check now.

i'm usually pretty organised for shows, and sober now that I have to drive myself. Could tell some stories of when we were younger tho'.

A lady who comes for lessons with my trainer forgot her horse for an event...yep it can be done

. She thought the groom had loaded the horse and groom though she had. Didn't realise until they were 2 hours up motorway and stopped for deisel..now that really is the worst thing to forget....

I have forgotten various items of tack but usually manage to borrow or have to buy from tack shops there

I learned the wrong dressage test at Buckminster - didn't pay any attention to the horses before me so had no idea until I trotted down the centre line and turned left instead of right.

Couldn't for the life of me work out why the judge was ringing bell (I was convinced it was left) - didn't realise mistake until I spoke to her.

Thankfully she took pity on me and didn't eliminate me - sent me away to learn correct test and slot into a gap later in the class.

Stopping over at a 2 day showing show - on the sunday morning I got up and went to feed Moose in my jamas about ten to 8. Thought there were a lot of people with horses that needed a lot of working in, then realised my class started at 8 and not half past. Legged it back across the showground to get dressed, then back to stable to throw tack on poor mesmerised horse while OH dragged a brush through her tail.
We got 3rd in class but somehow took the 'Best Turned Out' award!!

WHen I was a baby (left with one of the au pairs!) my Mother and Father were both so hungover they went off in the lorry to go hunting - only to come back 3/4s hour later reallising both horses were rugged, plaitted, and still eating their nets in their stables - had driven all the way to the meet and forgotten Sooty and Toby!

I went to an event, was merrily tacking up, asked Dad for my girth....no girth.

Cue visit to visiting tack shop with a peice of string the right length, to be told "no that won't fit a 15.2h, have this one" Back to horse, didn't fit. Take girth back and say no this length....eventually get on horse. Horse takes a dislike to straw bales in final jump. Bad day.

Only got round to grooming one side of my very muddy horse..... It was fine up the centre line & on one rein. Other rein was

Have also over time forgotten saddle, jacket, johds, directions & schedule & mobile phone - that was fun, often forget passport, in fact have forgotten everything there is to forget over the years apart from horses......

Left girth at home on one occasion - there was a tack shop 10min drive up the road which I ran all the way too and back (I couldn't unhitch as had to leave beast with trailer and friend watching) also left both stirrups and leathers at yard - que Mum sent on a mercy dash to get them - obviously ran v v late that day.

Once a show organiser rang the yard next door to say they had changed my Dressage from 11am to 9.30am (they rang at 9am) I was still at home plaiting up. In hindsight In should have told her to go swing, but I made a hooned up there, straight in the areana and did a lovely test, only thing was the judge didn't stop me til half way through to say I was doing wrong test!! In the major panic I just started doing my fav test. When show organiser made a sarky comment that I really needed to get my act together, Mum and her had a stand up row!

went bsja, decided to go with friend on lorry, umed and arred which lorry decided last min to go on her lorry,,,
got there the only thing i had for me was boots and hat (kept in boot bag) my jacket bag, with jods, jacket, shirt in was still in my lorry!! had to borrow friends stuff ALL of it,,,, not too bad you mite think,,, but im 5ft6 size 12 and shes much much smaller and size 10,,, was so grateful, but so squashed in!!!!!!

Was talking to a lady at work today whose friend went 2-day eventing miles away with 1 horse.

On the second day she overheard the commentator shouting for her to get to the ring quickly - on her other horse.

She then realised she'd actually entered them both but only loaded up one horse instead of two - the other was still standing in his stable with full travelling kit on - THE NEXT DAY!

I have forgotten my saddle and bridle on the same occasion. I didnt have a good morning, friend was sat outside in her car waiting for me in the morning and I was still in bed snoozing, que mad rush and ran to car, clutching a sock and other went in boot.

My tack was in the boot and for some unknown reason I thought I know I will take my tack out of the car and leave it on stable door, whoops lucky we had someone from our yard coming to the show so she popped in to get it, never felt so stupid though.

I forgot my Hat for a long distance ride, fortunately a friend bought a (very large) spare. I forgot the reins once, but was close enough for me to jump out the lorry, sprint at least a mile home and back again. I have never run so far in my life! A few weeks ago we were going to evening dressage. I told Dad what ponies we were taking, and left traveling stuff outside the ones that were going stables. He has entered HIS ponies Rory and Brook and Pip was going along. I got to the show only to find he had put Ginga, Richard and Pip in. He had to almost climb over Rory and Brooks stable to get to Ginga and Richard. Richard is also his, but not even broken to ride! Ginga is 140cm, cobby and not his, Brook is 13hands and like a show pony! FFS they are his ponies and he can't tell them apart! Ginga was filthy too, so he walked past the ones that were plaited to get to him. Obviously none of them had traveling stuff on, and he left Pips bridle I had left with the traveling stuff as he loads in it at home. Not the best day, Richard obviously did nothing, while Pip and Ginga went in bits and bridles that were slightly too small. I didn't do Pip as he hated the bit and was being dangerous

I forgot my tack once when I was young, but luckily the show was only 20 mins from home so my dad brought it. That was pretty dumb though.

I have forgotten the odd thing like my stud kit etc. but nothing else particularily horrific.

I've been known to clean only the bits of tack that show, with a baby wipe type thing!

Recently forgot my black hat silk for a ODE, so borrowed a Beagler off someone for the dressage and another black hat with peak for the SJ - very lucky!

Usually at the start of an Event season I forget one thing.

Last year it was my number bib, this year it was a girth....been able to borrow so far, so good!

forgotten breastplate, not nice to go xc without it.
forgot short dressage girth when i went to a 3-day in Germany, none of the tack shops had a short enough one (they kept laughing and asking if it was for a pony??!!) so eventually had to borrow a really solid one (which my mare detested, she was used to a very soft padded leather one) from very very kind Mr Blyth Tait. *pathetic claim to fame*
was stabling overnight once, got pissed in lorry with mate that night, went to do late stables, went out in the morning to find the mare peering timidly round the corner of her open stable door... oops.
got very pissed after xc at Hartpury one day years ago, sitting around chatting to loads of lovely exalted people (the Todds etc), was so distracted that i totally forgot i had to drive home, had to beg to stay for another night, poor horse!
