Do they ever answer the blimmin' phone? I'm currently holding for twenty minutes to talk to someone!

Am interested in buying an intermediate horse that's become available and want to thoroughly check his record. What are they doing with the fees you guys are giving them every year. They badly need to employ a few people to answer the phone! Rant over - thanks for bearing with me...

On a bank holiday I'd be amazed if they'd answer the phones tbh :) FWIW I wouldn't bother phoning BD until Tuesday if I needed anything ;)

Thanks Miiliepops, I didn't realise it's a bank holiday in the U.K!

That will explain it then. And thanks for reminding me it's Good Friday! Next week will do fine. I take it back - it's not BE's fault after all....

I think you can look it up free IG, but if not, I'll look it up for you if you give me the horse's name?

Maybe if they're outside the UK they can't see it? I know that's the case with some sporting websites. If it is, download a program like Hola (it's free) and change your browsing country to UK.

Bank hol. On a normal day I have never had any wait to get through to them :) I was also super impressed they refunded my season ticket and membership after I lost my horse without even asking for a vet note.

You can check the horse record online - I doubt BE will be able to tell you any more than you can see yourself

Only thing they might be able to clarify reason for E? Like you used to get the code next to the result and could see if it was a TE for example?

Bdwp shows the fences that have caused the pens. XC but that's not 100% accurate, friend was marked E with 20@12 last week, in fact she missed fence 12 and thought she'd had a great round :)

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. As I'm acting as agent it wouldn't be fair to pm the horse's name but thanks for the offer.

As I haven't competed BE myself I'm just unsure of some of the codes. So maybe some of you can point me in the right direction on that.

The horse has competed intermediate. Maybe you guys can tell me how highly some of these events are rated in the U.K. and also where these classes would correspond on the star system.

Aston le Walls Intermediate section P.

Bicton Arena International section D.

Wellington International section Q.

Thanks so much for your help 😊

Don't read anything into section letters it means nothing much. All entries for a particular level (e.g. Intermediate) are split up into equal sections of 30-40ish competitors.

Sometimes events will mix up regular BE levels (so our equivalent to your CNC) with international FEI classes (CIC), in which case the overall event is called an international, such as Bicton & Wellington. You can tell from the BE record if the horse was entered into a regular national section or an FEI section.

In terms of the events themselves I do think over the recent years they have become more uniform in severity. Obviously some are top end of level and others bottom end but the gap isn't that vast. Aston is often classed as a good venue for first time at a level. It is flat and reasonably straightforward. Wellington & Bicton more mid range. Non are big atmosphere venues.

Thank you folks, you've cleared up a lot of confusion for me. We are normally selling horses to the UK, not buying from that direction so the system can be a little different!

You've explained that very well Ihatework and nato - cheers!
