What is the weirdest/funniest/oddest thing your horse has spooked at?

Willow once stopped and snorted in shock horror at a leafy branch in the middle of the path when it was getting dark..I convinced her to walk on again and imagine her reaction when she stood on the non-leafy end of the branch, and the other end rustled...

My daughter's 13.2hh spooked when I was riding him at a clump of grass covered in frost! We had to go sideways across the other side of the road with popping eyes and ears nearly touching each other!

Rubin (GinaGem’s horse) spooked at Bodey’s farting. Bodey is powered by fart power, he, he.

Now Bodey, he doesn’t like horse eating logs (TwigBen will tell you that).

My friends horse did a pee during her first ever dressage test - it went on for ages and left the surface a bit frothy! Next time she came round to that spot she spooked halfway across the arena!

I was riding my mare past a buiding site. She has always been very spooky and this was a very big site and went on for ages. We went past half buit houses and diggers and work men and bricks, concrete all sorts of stuff going on and all over the place. I could feel she could have blown at any moment, but she held her self together and we made if safely past. After there was a sign on the other side of the road to warn cars, she exploded at the sand bag that was proping the sign up!

A blade of grass! Honest. I was out with my Welsh mare Rosie, we had just scraped sides with a JCB in a narrow road and she didn't bat an eye lid. A few seconds later a big blade of grass blew down the road and she freaked.

ummm..... shes a bit of a div so the best include

daffodils (well any brightly coloured flower really)
mud chunks on the road
and when schooling in the dark under flood lights.... her own shadow!

There's a small pile of big rocks at the side of one of the roads I very occassionally hack on (I dont DO hacking!). One of mine finds them absolutely petrfiying.....

and there a piece of blue tarpaulin (sp?) type thing that is covering a drain that the water board put in on the road up to the farm as it was constantly running down and wold freeze over in winter. some stupid perosn has stole the cover so they have put blue tarpaulin over to cover it, it has now been there for the past 2 months, and horse still wont walk near it. He will go past it but it has to be at the other side of the path and as much as you can try and make him walk to the right he will still go over to the left, then the even dafter thing is is that he doesnt bother about it at all on the way back up, its only on the way down!

Harry once saw a napkin blow from the food trailer at a show. It blew towards him so he started to reverse, we ended up reversing at great speed the entire lengh of the showground untill a man ran and picke it up! This is the horse who refuses to do rein back half the time!

Some white lines painted on the road to mark a repair needed. Big spook, into road, fell off, horse b****d off, got a lift back to yard in a passing tractor. Later on that same day..... standing at the end of an RAF runway with pairs of jets taking off over our heads. Made me quiver - he didn't bat an eyelid. What's that all about?

Yesterday we went cantering down the road the wrong way when a piece of newspaper dared to flutter in the breeze.......

My friend Linda and I were out hacking on Monday and there was a woman doing stretching exersizes at the side of the road, neither of them would go within 10 yards of her, we had to ask her to stop and they cautiously sidled past, wallies!

Usually Thelly is scared of plants in the hedgerows, they're usually green but sometimes the leaves turn and they're silvery, they're really scary apparently.

Lol I'm still laughing at some of these stories which is nice to make me chuckle after watching Panorama

It's weird how so many seem to be posting about daffodils. Perhaps we should try and condition our horses to them by wearing big easter bonnets during April lol.

Yep can vouch for Jobo on the horse eating logs with big teeth! Bless his heart though he still goes round just keeps an eye on them at all times!

My "bombproof on the road" Welshie had an absolute hysterical fit shaking, snorting, eyes on stalks, cantering backwards at a place where there USED to be a phone box. He hadn't been down there for months and he'd never been bothered when there was a phone box there. It had been completely removed and the spot grassed over but he just KNEW that something wasn't right and that whatever had eaten the phone box wanted a small chestnut Welsh Cob for it's next meal!
