Following on from rockinghorse's post, what is the strangest thing you have found in your stable? Mine was part of a sheeps spine

I think it was in the hay and luckily Star had the sense not to eat it!

Used to get chicken eggs in the bed every morning, which was nice but not when you i used to break one with the pitch fork whilst mucking out!

Bones in Hay isn't that unusual, badgers and foxes tend to drag bits around and you find them in odd places!
We ended up disposing of snake as it was getting very agitated and we were worried for the dogs, I let the guys deal with that as we were worried about leaving the snake to leave itself and it not going!

Lol, Actually the strangest thing I found in Dougal's stable was in fact a baby robbin in his water, still alive, so I picked it out wrapped it up in a drying up cloth plonked it next to the aga, gave it some dried meile (sp) worms and put it back nest to the nest in the stable. Mummy took it back and it fledged about 4 days after, lived in the yard with its other bro for a week and then went off, and Mummy is back this year too as she knows its a safe place with helping hands it babies get in trouble

I have found a dead polecat, half a dead rabbit and a dead rat floating in a water bucket, not at the same time.
On Thurs when putting my horse into her stable after hunting about 8pm a rat ran across the stable, through a gap in the stable wall and across the yard!
ETS- pork pies! We used to get pork pies from the local supermarket for the hounds. We would give some to the dog at work and she would bury them in the stables.

A snake! It was horrible ! my friend once found a mobile phone she had lost weeks ago in her stable. He had been mucked out fully everyday!

Mother has just told me when I was little I came across a badger in a stable. Not sure who was more suprised me or the badger.

Barbed wire - it was baled into the hay. Can't say i was very impressed at all! Thank god my mare hadn't decided to try and eat the hay which was entangled around it.

opened the stable door last spring and found a live baby swallow sitting by my horses feet...it later died in my hands

and used to know someone who opened a bale of shavings and there was porn mixed in!

Once found an extremely large grumpy live toad holed up in one of the shavings banks, he got turfed out sharpish before he got pronged with a fork!

Not weird, more disgusting, and not me... My YO found human excrement in one of her stables last summer. We have a footpath that goes through the yard so it was either a walker or a farrier. YUCK!

Somebody else also found a rabbit's head in their haynet.

For me, it's a boneo, as one of the YO's dogs likes to hide them in your beds if you leave the stable door open. I always shut mine now!
