A riding boot in the stable of a big hunter my mum used to ride, which when I returned to the YO, she promptly gave it back to him, it was his toy!
Apparently I wasn't the only one who made the same mistake.
I have found a rat in my water bucket, a rat in the bedding and the ducks on the farm regularly lay eggs in my stable, I once found a chick in there too (alive).
Shot gun cartridge case (unused!!) in my hay on my old yard. Dad found full set of gents clothes (including the underwear and shoes!) in large blae of straw when bedding down the cows. Straw that had come from the field next to our house!
nothing exciting, bird carcass in the haylage this year. Mouse running up wall in old stable when i shone torch on it. And pair of scissors on old old yard, no suprise i moved from there, YO left it in there after using it to open shavings to bed down my stable
A big bear of a dog that had made an appearence(not one from our yard) and somebody had decided to put it in my box - slighty connected but found my horse in an empty stable as he had let himself out of his box -nice bed big haynet etc into one that had no bed no food etc and stayedin their with the door wide open - stange animal
Oh, I have found a flattened hen in my horses stable. Obviously fell asleep in the wrong place!! Also dead chicks floating in water bucket, also rat in water bucket. Not all at same time and over the last 25 years I must add. All very yuck!!
Went to feed ponies and found one stable empty - and four little ears and eyes looking at me from the other stable!
I'm not sure who was more shocked - me or the pony whose stable it was!
They are in a converted barn so the partitions are open, but it was still a good 4' high and the one who jumped over is only 12.2.
My friend said he must have opened the door and let himself in, but I pointed out the bolt was still done up and if he was that bright, why didn't he let himself into the feed room while he was at it! He has done it a few times since, think it is when something frightens him like the wind, so he jumps in bed with his little friend.
That reminds e of the orning when we found the old ShirexClyde in with the 15.3 Old Appy! They were in stables with a door between, the door was shut and we never did find out how the big mare had done it. They were a bit squashed in, but were fine and there had been no fighting at all!
Crikey, that must have been a squash! Mine were only 11.2 and 12.2, although the 11.2 looked a tad peeved, as all the hay was gone and I know who would have eaten most of it
I found a leg bone from a small animal, probably a rabbit. The other day it was a plastic bottle in his haynet. Luckily he had hay on the floor to so he left the net lol. I have also had the normal (well i hope) crisp packets etc.
Baled in hay I've seen sheep, fox, rabbit, kangaroo, wallaby, lizard, snake and unidentified creatures all in whole or parts...
wire, string, large rocks...and probably lots I have forgotten..
Loose in the stable...snakes, lizards, goats, bats....critter of all sorts!
