new boy has another lump beneath one he got last month - is about 10 inches across isnt hot - is i ta bite or is it too big? what can i give him if anything? supposed to be doing dressage tomorrow night
cooli shall get some arnica forhim. Would you ride him like this (only if the numnah/saddledoesnt touch it)- i dont really want to but have our first walk and trot test at 4.30 tomorrow.
Mine came up in those all over his body about two weeks ago. Never did find the cause but they didn't bother him at all and went in two to three days. I would still ride.
I used to have a mare than came up with those (about 6 to 7 large lumps in different shapes and sizes) in different places (belly, top of legs, neck & bum) etc I looked into it (like you) but decided to leave it go on its own, she was not bothered in the slightest but I did monitor the swellings twice a day to check for changes or pain etc...they went down in a week and completely disappeared, she would occasionally flare up again so the next time I put a summer sheet on (thinking it was something she perhaps laid in, or was bitten by) fly rugs were not 'comment' in those days and the lumps didn't come back, I put down it to time of year, the type of flys about etc.
However if you in serious doubt, best to have it checked out just in case you dont want to take any risks.
ETD to say that I did not ride my mare when these lumps were in the saddle/girth area, forgot to mention that bit!
No - you can have giant urticaria also.. it can come and go and kind of rove around a bit. Its not always necessarily something that has come into contact with the skin either, it can be something ingested. Or it can be triggered by heat/cold/pressure- so I prob wouldnt ride in this case, what with it being in the saddle area.
thanks poppymoo
i have bought arnica and alow vera gel - will that help?
i have changed his hoof supplement to equihoof from farriers formula and his baileys no 17 to hi fibre nuts - could that do it?
