In relation to the other blob.

when you turn them over whats underneath ? Is it just the same ? Do they seem to be slime , fibre etc ? How long do they take to appear ? Do they start small then grow or just appear one day . Dont like to ask just incase one grabs you by the face and drags you down into the depths of your muckheap , but do they smell ?

They are flat, and sort of crispy, not spongy like a fungus.

There is only one blob of yellow and 4 blobs of the red one.

I had a man up to look at removing my heap today and he said that he had never seen anything like it. The heap is Aubiose and Ecobed and he speculated it was something to do with the bedding I was using.

They don't smell as far as I can tell and I have no idea if they start small and grow as I have only just seen them a few days ago as they are on the far side of the heap.

'And in the twenty and thirteenth year there came a plague upon the muckheap of perissa, and pitchforks could not destroy it nor muckheap men tell of its origin or of whence it came, and the plague spread until the muckheap was consumed.'

I've no ideas to offer but it sounds like we are entering the end times.

Google 'slime mould' they seem to start off yellow then age to the darker colour.

Fuligo septica, the "dog vomit" slime mold

Weird. Interesting.

I too would suggest contacting the bedding makers.

Please let us know if/when you find out anything:)

Yep - slime mould.
Probably because you have degrading paper/cardboard on your heap.

Attractive isn't it?

Oh and just to add if you cut it in half - the two pieces would re join.....

So the yellow one is, without doubt, slime mold - also known as Dog Vomit mold. I KID YOU NOT!!!!

However not sure about the red one. I can't find a single pic of slime mold looking like the red one.......

I'm going with this one!

We've just watched 'Legion'!....
