What is this weed?

Lots of these have popped up in the section of my paddock that I have been resting. Looks like a dandelion but not! Can anyone help?

Looks like milk thistle, I get lots of it in one of my paddocks and they go mad for it!! said to help liver function.

Definitely not milk thistle, the flowers are yellow but more like dandelion petals than ragwort.

Nope not poisonous. Apparently young plant leaves taste like lettuce

And apparently : - * Most livestock will readily devour sow thistle in preference to grass, and this lettuce-relative is edible and nutritious to humans *




Not sure I want to test the theory by eating it myself but it won't harm your horses

You haven't had rape seed grown near you have you.

It is definately a type of thistle, although sadly I don't know what. Horses do like it and definately not poisonous.

Yes to rape, in the field both sides of our yard last year.

Lol... that's not rape. It's definitley sow thistle - horses love it, I go off hand picking it for mine from verges, spoilt mare.
