What is this?

When OH went down to feed/check Duke & Solly this morning, he found this sore area on Duke. We can't figure out what may have caused it, it's very moist, anyon any isea? We checked the filed but found nothing that may have done this.

Looks like hes rubbed it on something. Id stick some cream on it and leave it alone.

Could be just a scrape/rub but to be on the safe side, I'd only put a barrier cream like vaseline on it and keep a close watch. I've seen pix of flat sarcoids that don't look a million miles from that. Has it just popped up or has there been any sign of a little sore or flaky spot there before?

I also think it's a rub. Just give it a little cream and put some sudocrem on it. (vasline wont get rid of any infection/germs)

I think it looks like a scrape too - if he will let you, maybe wipe it with some dilute antiseptic and pop some sudacreme on it.

hi is he being ridden and is so what shape is your bit, i can't use a myler loose ring because it causes a rub very much like in the picture

Looks like he s been rubbing. my pony sometimes gets this on his face particularly when a lot of midges around

Just looks like a scrape to me, pop some cream on it and keep your eye on it

Thanks everyone. It's definately not his bit, and there was no sign of anything until it came up like this, no spots or dry or flakey bits. I have done as suggested and applied sudocrem yesterday and today. It doesn't really seem to worry him. It just bothered us at it looks sore.
If it seems to be getting sore, infected, swollen, etc we will obviously get the vet out.
