Video won't embed. Ivy does this funny thing of smoothing herself along our bed, sometimes bumping into it quite hard! This is a slightly less excitable version in the video. I'm assuming she's just happy/excited? She doesn't really jump on the bed so much but does this. Always in the morning when my alarm has gone off (highly effective to get me out of bed when it's being rocked around!) and sometimes in the day too.

Is this a thing dogs do? A greyhound quirk? My dog being particularly weird?!

All of the 8 dogs I have had have done this, to varying degrees, along the sofas. They have also loved being hand scratched or brushed along their spines, so I assume it feels good - somewhere they cannot easily scratch/groom themselves.

Or drying off when they have been outside and are wet, the bedroom doors need to be kept shut on those days.

Definitely not allowed in there if she is wet. She does very dramatically roll around on the floor if she gets even a few drops of rain on her snoot!

She does like a back scratch and a groom with the rubber mitt. I'll have to give her a good groom, it's been a while.

Sighthounds like to body bump you to show you they love you. My lurchers do it to me a lot. I imagine thats why shes bumping the bed like that. Shes happy you are getting up!

She is thrilled when I am getting up! ? She snorts and does bump into me or walks under my legs so that makes sense she's just having a happy time bumping the bed.

Daisy does this on the sofa when damp. And loves nothing better than a wriggle on the carpet and bed. I’ve always assumed it was for a back rub and to make sure her smell was replicated to her satisfaction.

My spaniels have always done that, as have the dogs belonging to my parents. Some do it more than others, and it usually seems to be more enthusiastic/rough if they are wet or excited (and haven't been shut out of the bedrooms to stop them doing it!). I've always just assumed it feels nice, and that they enjoy the sensory feedback that they get from doing it :)

She's not done it to the sofa but I have caught her wiping her chops on the sofa if she has splashed her face with water when drinking!

The Hooligan does this when excited on every available surface. His favourite is the sofa & usually involves jumping on it & throwing the cushions off. If he's wet then he MUST roll & rub on everything & everyone! He's started doing the rubbing on people recently as well, not sure if he's copying the cat a bit with Thomas he does seem to like copying his behaviour
