Is 57 kg (including tack)and 5,2 too big to be riding a 12,2 pony every so often quite a stocky build however not cob level stocky (it would be quite light work).

Also depends on pony's fitness/muscle and how he feels carrying you. Just because the average can doesn't mean all will be happy doing so - the same as humans.

Thank you I have been looking for something like this 😀

For light work, the accepted upper weight limit is 20% of the pony's weight.
So weigh yourself dressed for riding and holding all the tack. x by 5 to see what weight of pony will be ok for you*.

* (Pony weight when fit & not fat- a fat pony is already carrying weight so can take a lighter rider. Limit is lower for disabled, unbalanced or beginner riders.)

It depends on so much - including the balance of the rider as to whether they will ‘ride heavy’ or if they are in balance they will ride much lighter.

I’m 57kg also and 5ft 3 and ride a 14.1 lighter weight cob and I have to say whilst he carries me fine I wouldn’t want to be any heavier on him. He weighs just under 400 kg so with tack etc I’m just over the 15% mark.
We have a 16.5 Inch saddle and it fits us both perfectly. I’d happily pop on a stocky 12.2 occasionally but wouldn’t want one as a regular ride

Anyone using that should put their weight on fully clothed to ride. It probably adds at least a stone.
