The BE 90?
I wanted to do Drumclog but can't do that weekend, and Hunwick is perfect date wise but is cancelled!
I want a run between richmond and hutton in the north but there seems to be nothing except for Drumclog/Beckwithshaw weekend which I can't do.
Thanks

I have not done it but people I know have and have said its very inviting and a course good for first timers. Last year my friend and lots of others got time faults for going to fast  as I think its quite a short course? Im sure there will be others on here that will know a lot more than me about it. ;)

Have heard it is a very straightforward one. They are holding the RF there this time and I know a few folk wish they had picked a more challeging course so it is not just a dressage comp.

Done it the last two years. For a BE90 it's not hugely challenging...I did it as a first time run for a youngster I had in for sale back in 2008. Set up is great - parking on hard standing, plenty space for warm ups, flat dressage and show jumping and if the weather isn't too horrendous (it was torrential the first year) then the views are cracking too as you're right by the sea!

Who could you possibly be referring to?!

:p

Never done Turnberry, but as the others have said, it's supposed to be straightforward.

I have to agree that it's not really the best course for the intro RF...far from it, but I'd really recommend it as a first intro, or first pre-novice.

Then again, the previous RF was Oatridge and that really was ridiculous. I guess Turnberry just fits with the time of year that the RFs are run in!

As others have said tho, the parking on hard standing and ample warm up is definitely it's plus points!

Soorry, slightly highjacking post  But isn't there are RF at hendersyde too? Or do they run 2?

Hendersyde is the Scottish Champs so that is a final in its own right and does not qualify for anything else.

The RFs are grassroots qualifiers - so top 20% qualify for Badminton. There are several RFs run and a rider can do one for each qualifying result. Think Turnberry only Scottish RF though

Seems to be a lot of confusion about this recently!! Scottish Champs are totally separate - you have to finish in the top 5 in section of a Scottish event, for the regional finals you have to be in the top 10% of your section in any British event. If you qualify after this you can go to the Grassroots Final which was held at Badminton last year, should be there next year but not sure how long if the professionals get their way!!

As above T is a nice straightforward course and the hard standing parking is a huge bonus. The ground held up incredibly well to the torrential rain in 08, whern Noodlejaffa & I were seeing who could wring most water out their gloves after XC!

Eventing is defo not at it's most fun in the rain. Here's hoping it's dry for Blair, we're due a dry year!!

Blair is definetely due a dry year! Was slightly concerned to turn up last year on the Friday to hear that it might not go ahead!!! Up until year before we had always had a beautiful sunny (or at least dry) time (and have been going quite a few years) so fingers crossed!

So who's planning to go to Blair this year, either competing or spectating (and dreaming! like me)

:D

We are going Fri-Sun. Think I've managed to convince Mr FJ to leave mega early on Fri so I can do the course walk which is at 10am on Fri (or Thurs afternoon for those there on Thurs).

Looking forward to watching, shopping, BBQ, booze, blethering and maybe cheering on some HHO-ers since punk mentioned pingy pony was looking to make an appearance! :D
