A couple of weeks ago I responded to an advert for some lurcher puppies, kind of planning in advance for losing my old great Dane who has been diagnosed with bone cancer so is on limited time. My younger Dane is very clingy and I was worried how she would be on her own.
Today the guy rang me back and said if I wanted the puppy come today or they were going to a rescue who could only hold them for a week.
Cue a hasty trip to collect him! When I got there I found a room full of puppies, fat wormy tummies, no food down and no water! When I asked about that I was told the were fed at night with mum and then they were watered to try and stop them peeing so much!!!!!!!

Cue the arrival of Spike and Bronte!
She was so cute i couldn't leave her there!

Why do people have puppies, in the first place and especially if they have no bloody idea how to look after them!

Money is the answer of course, hope you didn't reward him too handsomely for being a a total ******** :(
What he did to you is blackmail, he needs to be reported if you think that the brothers and sisters of your dogs - who sound like they will have a wonderful life with you - are being kept in poor conditions.
He'll probably do it again :(

Fortunately he gave them to me so no rewards for him! I actually think he thought it would be a quick way to make cash but didn't get any buyers so he just wanted rid of the agro.
I think my husband would have exploded if I had taken the other five too tho!

To a welfare body. Assuming these puppies are not being cared for appropriately as the op suggests. A talking to may well deter him from doing it again. I doubt they are bad enough to take away but advice is part of their remit.

No chance will he even get a "talking to" frankly! Now that he's established there is no market for lurcher pups he will likely stop bothering anyway. Reminds me of the chap that brought 2 whippet/grey pups in recently, he was gobsmacked nobody wanted to buy them!

It's called bloody greedy humans!
I rescued a whippet x saluki lurcher/longdog a year or so ago, she's doing fine now but was full of worms, no hair on her , open bleeding sores in a real bad way, she's great now. My friend who is into GSD as well as other breed rescuing contacted me today to see if I wanted another one, can't believe how alike mine the dog she is fostering is!
She is another whippet x saluki by the looks of it, about 6 months old and dumped at the rescue kennels my friend helps at, the owner of the kennels said that dog needs one to one and to be out of here or she will die. My friend has her at her house with her GSDs, here are the pictures,

this is what people do to dogs that aren't any use to them anymore, neglect them and dump them. It's the sort of people with the puppies the OP has highlighted that are responsible, sorry for awful pics but it is how bad it is out there, every rescue round the country is bursting at the seams because of selfish, cruel idiots like the person who dumped my lurcher and this one.

OMG!! That has to be the thinnest dog I've ever seen!!!

I just can't understand how anyone can do that to a living creature?! Trouble is when people get into financial or residential difficulty theirselves unfortunately the animals suffer. ( I refuse to believe anyone could do that deliberately)

Not all people in financial straits neglect their dogs, my daughter works in a homeless shelter with kennels which are currently filled with 7 dogs of mixed parentage and without exception look in good condition and are well loved.

I remember watching one of those RSPCA programmes where some people kept a Bull Terrier in the garden which looked much like those photos. What shocked me was they kept a dog in the house which looked ok and was well cared for but couldnt understand how they could neglect the one in the garden.

I would really like to take her but we don't have space at the moment, trying to move to wales where we could have more but it's not happening yet. Here's my girlie, see the resemblence!

I would go without to make sure my dogs are well cared for, no matter how hard life is and how short of money I am and if the time ever came when I couldn't look after them I would find them homes before they ever became hungry

On a brighter note Spike and Bronte slept very well not being thirsty and hungry! They have been playing with the kids, play fighting each other, and are now fast asleep with the Danes!

Not going to comment on the neglect of these or the photos of the whippet x as I'm likely to go off on a rant and I think that other people have said my thoughts far more eloquently...

HOWEVER.....

On a brighter note Spike and Bronte slept very well not being thirsty and hungry! They have been playing with the kids, play fighting each other, and are now fast asleep with the Danes!

Where are the pictures!!!! We definitely need some, its the rules :D
