My poor boy is losing fur around his eyes coat is fine on the rest of his body can't see any lice on him but he was in with a poor coated pony recently ( which has now left the yard) who ha suspected lice I have deosected him as a percaution a few weeks ago and he has never been itchy. But now this has happened if anyone has any idea what it could be and what could help him I would
be very grateful.

It's hard to tell from the picture because it is not in focus but it could be ringworm especially if the pony he was in with could have had it.
 
Yea, pony kept moving his head lol.

Hmm Ill check ringworm out, I honestly hadnt thought of that.

Will try up load the other pics i got i think they are a little clearer though are of the better of the 2 eyes
 
Is it spreading at all? It still looks like it could be ringworm though it might just be irritation from rubbing on something.
 
It could be due to a fungal skin condition. I also believe I've read somewhere that it can be with a low immune system that horses start to lose hair around the eyes.
 
It is ringworm, YO had vet out to see to her colts and case was confirmed, I wasnt there at the time so didnt have chance to speak to the vet, though apparently she thinks my horse is a carrier!

Now I just need to find out what to use to stop this spreading. I have used Virkon S in the stable done walls and floor, disinfected water bucket, head collar and rope, plus all his grooming kit. But what do I use on him? I have heard Daktacort, Athletes foot cream, Vinegar, canestan can stop the problem and help get rid of it, but I wondered if anyone has used any of these? I am unsure due to it being around the eyes any advice is welcome.
 
Last time I had one with ringworm I got something from the vet to put in his feed for a few days, Fulcin, I think it is called. I also got a fungicidal wash from him, which I can't remember the name of. The athlete's foot creams will work so long as it is only confined to one place, but if it doesn't clear up then you'll have to get some stuff from the vet. Mind you don't catch it yourself.

Yea, Im being careful using gloves etc changing clothes....

It is only under the eyes as in pics above other horses have it in more places.
