I live in London and often end up getting the tube home after riding. You wouldn't think mucky jods and worn out chaps would cause so much fuss and most of the time its ok.

Last night, however, I got abuse from 2 different groups of people (men and women) in a 30 minute journey. I wont go into detail of the comments I received (unprovoked) but I wouldn't be able to print them here but it was uncomfortable the first time and on the second occasion (big group of guys) I literally ran away

I am seriously considering bringing a change of clothes with me just to travel on public transport and not be harassed. Surely thats wrong??

I was fairly open minded about the BSJA knickers stunt but after last night I just think it's irresponsible. It gives completely the wrong impression. I'm not saying thats directly why I got picked on but this sort of PR won't make my situation any better.

Sorry just wanted to rant.

I go to the supermarket in mine, I don't care, but then nobody has ever said anything, quite the opposite, they're usually more interested, or make jokes like "where have you parked your horse?";
Like I haven't heard that one before!

A change of clothing is a good idea, and some smelly stuff! Especially if you don't what confrontation
 
That's horrible. My step daughters used to protest loudly when I took them into the local supermarket straight after being up at the yard. Apparently, I was embarassing them

The only comment that I have ever had thought is from a chap working on a nearby building site who told the postmistress that she shouldn't let me into the post office with my "horrid horsey feet"! I just laughed because he had such a nice Irish accent and he said it with a twinkle in his eye so I was pretty sure that he was just having a laugh

Perhaps when you next see a chav on the tube you should shout at some some comment about their 'lovely' Kappa tracksuit bottoms?! Give as good as you get - f*ckers!

Sorry to hear you were given grief for what you were wearing - people can be pratts at times. Just ignore any comments or take a book so you can read and not have eye contact with anyone (isn't that the law on the tube anyway

The only Supermarket round my way that I will go in in horsey clothes is Waitrose (a rare treat) - no one looks at me at all but god forbid that I should go into Asda - all the chavvy morons stare at me like I'm an alien! By the way I should add that I do usually shop there myself but in my civvies only now!! To be fair it's not a horsey area - I keep mine 10 miles away but honestly being stared at by jogging bottom clad, creole wearing slappers with 5 kids in tow really does take the biscuit!
 
Super market back home in Shrops is never a prob as its a fairly "agricultrual" area I live in

Though really I loathe gettting the bus to Knightsbridge in my beige breeches stock shirt and shock. (ride out for the Blues and Royals in the mornings during the week & have to turn up ready to ride.)

Usually have long black socks on too to try make me look more normal in trainers like I might be headed to the gym (I have a baggy jumper over the top and my long boots/jacket/hat in a bag) I get wolfwhistled at (WHY!?!?!) stared at, (fortunatly its early enough there arent too many people about) and then the worst is the reaction I get when I walk into work (do a flying change there) and my pervy Boss gives me the "Phoaw - Good Morning Zara" chat (becasue im horsy and event im niknamed Zara - what a compliment!! hehe

But on a serious note its not nice - I know what your going through - Might I suggest a cheapo pair of tracky bums to bung on over the top

Not of course that its better to look like a chav, but just to save yourself some grief perhaps?
 
I got on the service bus in my jods the other day. It was (I timed it) exactly 24 minutes late. In that time I got 16 pervy old men beep their horns at me, and one fit one! When I got into town I got one "Urggghhh" by some chavvy school kid, and one, "Look at that ass!" from a group of men. I felt completely self concious... I ownder if they realised im only 16 years old?! Men staring at your boobs as they drive past is just disgusting... for god's sake, get out more! People staring at you with their wives sitting in the car too! It's just horrible and you feel so small... I know how you feel.
